Make your way to the northern end of Martinique and enjoy a nature-filled canyoning program in the Fond Lottiere to Grand’Riviere! This guided program on a gorgeous Caribbean island lets you swim, abseil, and jump along a river course, combining the uncompromised beauty of mountainous terrain, lush rain forest, mesmerizing wildlife, and non-stop action!

The French island of Martinique, set in the tropical paradise of the Caribbean, is filled with natural marvels. From volcanoes covered in rain forest to savannah vegetation alongside black and white sand beaches, this location has something for everyone.

Some of its most intriguing features are its river beds and gorges, carved by meandering rivers. At the north end of the island, in the shadow of Mont Pelee (1,397m), the Fond Lottiere makes its way to the end of Martinique. This is our chance to follow the ebbs and flows of this winding wonder, making the long journey through the canyons to the village of Grand’Riviere.

The course itself is surrounded by incredible forests, iconic features of North Martinique. The active volcanoes and their vegetation are also spectacular sights to admire as we go. The canyons themselves will have seven rappels, varying in length from eight to 20 meters. The descent includes refreshing swims in the pleasant pools of water.

With the lush and vivid greenery all around us, we will spend a large portion of the day making our way down through the canyons of the Fond Lottiere. The area capitalizes on the remote nature of the region, which will give you a personal experience blazing your own trail in the delightful river and its many water pools.

With a revitalizing waterway as our channel of transportation, you will travel comfortably over the course of the day. All of the equipment, like helmets, harnesses, and wet suits, are provided by us, so you can spend your time enjoying the scenery. The course is long and covers multiple hours, making at least a moderate fitness level is necessary.

Dive into the water of the Mitan River on a guided half-day canyoning program in Le Morne-Vert! This amazing program in Martinique boasts an active way of learning about a Caribbean island while also providing hours of fun in its canyons for an unforgettable experience!

Located in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, the Caribbean island of Martinique spans 1,100-square kilometers and a diverse, intriguing landscape. The north of the island, including the region of Saint-Pierre and Le Morne-Vert, is mountainous, and its volcanoes have created black sand beaches to contrast with the white sand beaches in the south.

Lush rain forests are common around the peaks and rivers of Le Morne-Vert, combining rare nature with breathtaking scenery. The Pitons du Carbet are densely covered in this marvelous green landscape, making for a compelling wilderness excursion.

And this is where you come in! After meeting with us and going over the itinerary and protocol, we will head to the river bed and find a number of obstacles to help understand the majestic wonder of the Mitan River. Using ropes and a harness to aid our movement, we will jump, dive, abseil, and swim through the canyon, coming across the exhilarating challenges of traversing a river gorge.

We will provide the gear, like helmets, harnesses, and wetsuits, so you just need to bring a passion for canyoning. A rope will help us take on four challenges while taking in the immaculate scenery around us. Vivid greenery climbs up all sides of the canyon, which can include rosewood and mahogany. Endemic tarantulas are a friendly sight among the surrounding trunk forests.

Our last objective will include a zip line over a pool of water, rounding out a day of action-packed canyoning and fascinating terrain. The charming experience will give you an endless supply of fond memories to take with you if and when you leave the island of Martinique.

This is a great option for beginners, as all of the group equipment is provided. We are proud to guide in a safe and satisfactory environment for all levels. Our vast experience on Martinique and in Le Morne-Vert and the Mitan River will help you enjoy the environment like a local in an active and informative manner.

You should have a moderate fitness level as canyoning requires physical activity, and our program will cover multiple hours in the river and canyon.
