David has over 15 years experience in the Scottish Highlands, both leading people and on personal trips, in summer and winter, walking, climbing and camping. Over the years he has also had several Alpine trips gaining several 4000m summits and 2 trips to the Himalayas up to an altitude of 6000m.

Rising to 967 meters (3,175 feet) in elevation, Aonach Eagach dominates the skyline north of Glen Coe and is the most classic of its ridges!

Aonach Eagach also provides one of the finest and most challenging scrambles on the Scottish mainland.

Over the course of our day together, we will climb up this magnificent ridge to the summit of the peak, enjoying the way up as much as the incredible views from the top.

Our adventure begins with an ascent of Am Bodach. There are a few rocky parts on this section of the ascent, which will allow us to get used to moving over steep and rocky terrain.

From the summit, we will head to the west and descend the first technical section of the Munro of Meal Dearg. Here we will have to traverse the infamous pinnacles in the middle section, employing all types of scrambling, including climbing up chimneys, down chimneys, over steep steps, down rocky ridges, up rocky ridges and along exposed step arounds.

After traversing this middle section, the ascent concludes with an easy walk up to the summit.

From here, we can enjoy stunning views back into Glen Coe as well as over the rest of the Highlands, before turning around and making our descent back to the valley floor.

Climbing Ben Nevis – the highest peak in Scotland as well as the whole of the United Kingdom – is the ultimate way to spend a day out in the Highlands!

Rising to 1,344 metres (4,411 feet) in elevation, Ben Nevis may not sound very tall, but do not be fooled; the hike begins from sea level and is quite steep.

However, the impeccable panoramic views (weather permitting, of course) are more than enough reward for making it up to the summit of Britain!

Our adventure begins from the Ben Nevis Inn in Glen Nevis. From here, we will start by hiking around the side of Meall an t-Suidhhe,  crossing several streams en route and enjoying incredible views back over Glen Coe.

Scenes from iconic movies, such as Harry Potter and Brave Heart were shot in this exact spot!

From here, we will turn a corner and begin to ascend toward Lochan before the path flattens again.

At about 600 metres (1,960 feet), the path splits into two: one heading around the north face of the mountain and the other headed around the south face. We will take the latter, which is known as the Pony trail.

From here, we will continue to ascend up the zig zags. As we go, the terrain will slowly  shift from vegetated slopes to loose scree.

After about eight switchbacks, we will arrive at one end of the summit and walk across the relatively flat top to the north end of the summit, where we will find the ruined observatory and small hotel.

From the top, we will enjoy great views of the surrounding landscapes and mountain ranges, including Glen Nevis, the Mamores and Glen Coe.

After eating our lunch (not included), we will begin to make our way back down and head back to the Ben Nevis Inn where we will say our goodbyes.

Climbing Ben Nevis, the highest peak in both Scotland and the United Kingdom is always a challenge, but doing so in the winter adds to both the test and the reward!

Rising to 1,344 metres (4,411 feet) in elevation, Ben Nevis may not sound very tall, but do not be fooled; the hike begins from sea level and is quite steep.

As we increase in elevation, we will begin to encounter snow and ice. At this point, we will take out our ice axes and attach our crampons before continuing our climb.

As we go, we will pass by the frozen waterfall of the Red Burn, which represents the halfway point.

The second half of the hike becomes increasingly steep and we will slow our progress down as me must use more of the ice axe and crampons to ascend via the steep switchbacks.

Before long, however, we will be at the summit and enjoy some glorious views of the surrounding landscapes and mountain ranges, including Glen Nevis, the Mamores and Glen Coe.

After a little while at the top, we will begin our descent and return to the inn.

### Would you like to climb to the top of one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks? Then join me on this unique Inaccessible Pinnacle ascent in the Isle of Skye.

The Inaccessible Pinnacle, also colloquially referred to as the “In Pinn”, is a 50 m (150 feet) rock fin on the longest edge of the Sgurr Dearg (or “red peak”). Climbing to the top of the In Pinn requires rock climbing skills, and is an exciting feat for those that like a mountaineering challenge.

On this one day ascent, we will aim to start our climb at 8.30 am from Glen Brittle Hut. We will spend a total of 6 hours on the mountain and enjoy hiking, scrambling, rock climbing and abseiling to reach the summit of the In Pinn.

### Would you like to discover one of the best hiking spots on the Isle of Skye in Scotland? Then you can’t miss this four-day scrambling program to the 11 munros on the stunning Cuillin Ridge!

The Cuillin Ridge is a rocky mountain range famous for its gabbro rock and amazing views. On this 4-day course, you will reach the summit of the 11 munros in the range, which are above 3,000 meters of altitude.

Every day we will head to a different spot on the ridge. We will cover classic sections such as the west ridge of Sgurr nan Gillean, the famous In’ Pinn’ and the ridge between Sgurr a’Mhadaidh and Sgurr a’Ghreadaidh. You can find a tentative itinerary below.

Keep in mind that you will need a good fitness level to join this program. Also, you will need to be comfortable with heights. Additionally, although it is best if you have some prior grade 2 scrambling experience, the summits we will tackle are within the grade 3 range, and therefore manageable.
