Both my father and grandfather were mountain guides so my childhood was filled with stories of their great adventures. Ever since then, my mind has been filled with "photographs" of the mountain.

For my clients, I always try to find a good mix between safety and adventure. They come looking for wilderness and calm in nature and my job is to guarantee that they have an unforgettable time in the mountains. **Safiental is a valley in Grisons, Switzerland, which offers a variety of enjoyable ski tours.**

The itineraries are technically fairly easy. The length of most of the tours is moderate, between 1100 and 1300 vertical meters. The valley base is around 1600 m and the main summits are between 2800 m and 3000 m.

Slope exposition is mainly east, providing lots of soft snow during the winter months.

Safiental is quite a remote area, having no ski resort or even bigger villages around. However, you can access it by public transport (postbus).

The place offers lots to do for a "plaisir"-powder hunting skier.

**Saas Fee** is a spectacular place for anybody interested in **mountaineering**. Located in the **Valais canton** of **Switzerland**, there are a number of amazing peaks to climb. Some of those peaks include the **Weissmies (4,017m)**, the **Nadelhorn (4,327m)**, **Lenzspitze (4,294m)**, and the **Alphubel (4,206m)**, which we will be climbing on this trip.

Over the course of **2 days**, we will scale **Alphubel**. The mountain is a stunning peak that rests between **Saas Fee** and **Zermatt**. The summit is mostly covered in **ice.** As a result, the climb will have some tough spots, so some **mountaineering experience** is necessary. However, the challenge will be offset by the sheer beauty of the climb itself, as well as the magnificent view you will get from the summit.

There is so much to see from the top of **Alphubel**. Not only will you get to view **Saas Fee**, **Zermatt**, and all of the surrounding peaks of the **Pennine Alps**. You will also get to see the **Dom glacier** and the **Fee glacier** as well.

**Alphubel is just one of the many highlights that can be found near Saas Fee. However, I can assure you that this peak is more than worth the 2 days needed to climb it. **La Dent Blanche** is one of the **4000 meters** of the **Alps**. It is a beautiful 4357 m mountain in the Valais, in **Switzerland**.

I enjoy very much this peak and I like bringing my friends and clients up there because…  
– its an aesthetical and technical summit;  
– it’s a mythical adventure, like the ascent of the Matterhorn;  
– it’s a varied and mixed climb, the rocks are very good;  
– the view up there is just magic, on the Matterhorn, la Dent d’Hérens… !

If the weather is with us, we will take 2 days to summit it. We will be staying the 1st night in Refuge / Cabane de la Dent Blanche (3507 m). We will wake up early on day 2 in order to enjoy the sunrise on the summit.

I will take up to 2 participants in order to ensure maximum safety.

Ascent to La Dent Blanche, Pennine Alps

**I invite you to a 5-day classical high mountain traverse in the Western Alps, through vast glaciers and peaks over 4000 m, like Monte Rosa and Breithorn.** 

This trip begins in **Zermatt,** a town in **Swiss** known for its wonderful views of **Monte Cervino** or **Matterhorn**, the most emblematic mountain in the country.

Once there, the highest cable car in Europe takes us to the top of **Klein Matterhorn**, at 3883 m. This mountain is part of the **Breithorn massif**.

Then we begin our trek through the Italian side. We will go from hut to hut until we reach the highest hut of Europe: **Capanna Marherita (4550 m).** This hut is in one of **Monte Rosa** summits.

Finally, the tour ends at the Swiss side, back in the town of Zermatt.

This itinerary is a serious trek over glaciated terrain. Because of that, you will need proper glaciar equipment, as well as skills and knowledge about glaciar traverses (crevasse rescue etc.), in order to make a safe trek.

The best time for doing this activity is July, when the climbing routes are technically easier.

The tour begins in **Zermatt** (Switzerland). Then, **Klein Matterhorn cable car** takes us up to 3883 m. This is the starting point of the traverse.

The first day will have fantastic views of Cervino from the summit of **Breithorn**, the first 4000 m peak of this trip.

Then, we’ll travel from Klein Matterhorn over Breithorn to **Mezzalama Hut**, a cosy hut at the foot of Pollux mountain where we spend the night.

I invite you to join me on the mythical **Haute Route ski traverse**, a legendary tour that links **Chamonix, in France, and Zermatt, in Switzerland**. It will be an unforgettable 6-day trip, from the **Mont Blanc to the feet of the impressive Matterhorn**.

During these days, we will cross the most spectacular mountain scenery in the Alps. We will go through high mountain passes and amazing glaciers. Most important, we will enjoy incredible descents!

Also, during this week, I will teach a variety of topics, like risk assessment on glacial terrain, glacier travel and the use of avalanche beacons and special equipment.

On the first day, we will meet in Chamonix and we will enjoy a descent of 3000 metres. This first night we will sleep in the Argentière hut (2771 m). On the second day we will start touring to the **Col du Chardonnet (3325m)**, and then we will ski down to the Saleina glacier. This day will continue with amazing descents and we will end up in the Montfort Hut (2457 m).

On the third day, after we get to the **summit of Rosablanche (3336 m)** we will have a beautiful descent to the Prafleuri Hut. The next day, we will ski up to the Lac des Dix, where we will find quite flat terrain. We will finally get to the Cabane des Dix.

On the fifth day, we will climb up to the Berthol Hut (3311 m), one of the most beautiful huts in the Haute Route. We will enjoy **a spectacular panorama of the Dent Blanche, the Dent d’Hérens, and of course the impressive Matterhorn**.

Finally, on the sixth day, we will ski up to the **summit of the Tête Blanche (3724 m )**. From there, we will have amazing views of the Zermatt valley. Then, all is left is enjoying an unforgettable descent and then finally arriving to Chamonix.

**You can check the day-by-day detailed itinerary below this text**. Also, please note that this itinerary can be modified according to the group's ski level, the wishes of everybody and weather conditions. I take a minimum of 4 and a **maximum of 6 people per group**, to ensure everyone's safety.

Elevation gain: 200 m – Descent : 3000 m. (5 hours). We will meet at 9 in Chamonix for a briefing and equipment check. After a nice descent of the **Aiguille des Grands Montets**, we will practice avalanche awareness. Then we will go down the Argentiere glacier towards the Argentière hut (2771 m) where we will spend the night.

Elevation gain: 1200 m – Descent : 2400m. (6 to 7 hours). We will begin touring up to the Col du Chardonnet (3325m). Then, we will ski down to the Saleina glacier. From there we will ski up to the Fenêtre de Saleina, then descend underneath the Aiguilles Dorées. After we cross the Trient glacier, we will pass through the Fenêtre de Chamois (2985m), from where we will start skiing down to the Val d’Arpette. The descent will end 1300m further down in Champex. A quick transfer by bus brings us to Le Chable, from where we take the cable car up to Mont Fort. A quick descent and we will be at the Montfort hut.

Argentière Hut – Montfort Hut

Elevation gain : 1000m – Descent : 800 m. (6 hours). From Montfort hut (2457 m) we will go to la Chaux pass (2940 m), a quick descent and then  we will get to the Momin pass. Then we can ski tour up to the summit of Rosablanche (3336 m). From there, we will have a beautiful ski descent down to the Prafleuri hut.

Elevation gain: 800 m – Descent : 1300 m. (6 hours). Today we will ski tour up and along Lac des Dix. The terrain is quite flat, and a good sliding technique will help us to preserve energy reserves needed for later. Then, we will go through the Pas de Chat, the  Pas de Chèvre, then a great descent to Arolla. We will spend the night in a very nice hotel.

Elevation gain : 1343 m (5 hours). Today we will climb up to the Berthol Hut, one of the most beautiful huts in the Haute Route. We will enjoy a spectacular panorama of the Dent Blanche, the Dent d’Hérens, and of course the impressive Matterhorn.

Elevation gain: 550 m- Descent : 2110 m. (4 hours). Finally, on the sixth day, we will ski up to the summit of the beautiful Tête Blanche (3724 m ). From there, we will have amazing views of the Zermatt valley. Then, all is left is enjoying an unforgettable descent down the  Stocki glacier and to Zermatt, our final destination. Then, a bus ride will take us back to Chamonix.

Please join me for this unique 4-day ski touring program to the **Grand Saint Bernard** **pass** at the border of **Switzerland** and **Italy**. This place is cut off from the world more than 7 months a year.

We will be staying 2 nights at the Hospice du Grand Saint Bernard. It’s a magic and confortable place with a very welcoming management. We will finish the cross-country ski tour with a night in the Plan du Jeu refuge. In addition, we will ascend to the Hannibal pass.

This great adventure at Saint Bernard is dedicated to people who already have a fairly good level of off-piste skiing. You also need to have at lease some ski touring experience.

Please find below the program I usually propose. I can of course adapt it based on your time here and on your wishes. The snow and weather conditions might also force us to change it a little.

During this 4-day tour, I will give you the necessary explanations and trainings in order for you to:  
– improve your ski touring level;

**The Val d’Hérens** is a fantastic area for climbers (beginner or experienced) and those in search of beautiful mountain adventures. I really like this place and I know it very well since I live nearby.

Whether on classic routes or more engaged, my goal is over all to share my passion for the mountains while guaranteeing maximum safety. We can do many things together in **the Val d’Hérens.** Among the various possibilities, I list here my favorites:

*   **Pigne d’Arolla.** It is a beautiful summit of initiation and discovery, from the vignettes or crossing from the **Dix** lodge.
    
*   **Dent Blanche**, the great classic of the valley. We can ascend it by its normal route (AD) or by the north ridge, the road André Georges (TD).
    
*   **Les Aiguilles Rouges d’Arolla**, rocky and aerial crossing, a beautiful ridge race uncrowded of the Valley.
    

There are also many other options such as the crossing of **Couronnes de Bréona** (AD); **le Grand Cornier** crossing from the bivouac of the Dent Blanche (AD); **la Tête Blanche** by the Bertol Lodge or the crossing from the Dent Blanche Lodge (F). **L‘Aiguille de la Tsa** from Bertol (AD-) is another possibility or **Tsalion-Tsa** from Arolla (AD); the crossing of **Douves Blanches** (D); the great crossing of the Bouquetins (D); the **Grand Mont-Collon** and the pillar of the rising sun (TD).

And I can continue: **l’Evêque** and Southwest edge (AD); the **Mont Blanc de Cheilon** in crossing (AD) or by the normal way from Dix lodge (PD).

##### Located in the western Pennine Alps of Switzerland, the Grand Combin massif offers a tremendous collection of summits. And on this 2 day traverse, you will get to climb to several of those magnificent summits.

A definite highlights of the **Swiss Alps**, climbing and traversing the **Grand Combin massif** is a fulfilling, mesmerizing experience. And when it comes to great views, from each and every one of the summits you will reach, I can assure you they are nothing short of magical.

Some examples of the summits you will get to reach during this **2 day adventure** include the following.

Considering that all of the **Grand Combin massif’s summits exceed 4,000 meters**, it is important that participants on this trip are in **good physical condition**. It is also important that participants have some **prior mountain experiencing** because while the massif is not exceedingly difficult, it can present some difficulties.

– **DAY 1:** Climb to Tsa refuge

Meeting at Chamonix at 9am or directly in Arolla at 3pm. From there, then we reach to Tsa refuge where we’ll have dinner and spend the night. Elevation + 1000m.

**– DAY 2:** Dent du Tsalion and Aiguille de la Tsa.

Breakfast and departure to the ascent of Dent du Tsalion western ridge. Then, climb the Aiguille de la Tsa. Dinner and night at the Berthol refuge.

– **DAY 3:** Tete Blanche and Heres Pass

Breakfast and departure to our next refuge: Dent Blanche. Traverse through the Tete Blanche and Heres Pass until reaching the refuge. Dinner and night there.

– **DAY 4:** Grand Gendarme and Dent Blanche ascents.

Breakfast and ascent to Grand Gendarme through easy rocks. Then, we continue until reaching our main objective: Dent Blanche summit.

As a final point to considered, this climbing has a **high technical difficulty**, so it’s recommended to **have some prior experience in mountaineering in high altitudes**. Additionally, having a **good physical condition** is always a requirement.

Due to its difficulty, I proposed a **personalized program** where can only participate a **maximum of 2 participants**. So that, you can take full advantage of the training.

## The ultimate Haute Route ski tour for those who like nice long rides.

On this 1-week ski touring program, we will have the chance to enjoy the traditional Haute Route from Andermatt to Engelberg on skis.  This is a tour that I normally do from mid/late March to mid/late April. It is a pleasant time in the Alps with lots of snow and it’s mostly cold over 3000 meters but at the same time sunny. We have the opportunity to experience a nice combination of cold and fine spring snow.

You need to be fit as it is an intense week with many meters that will be traveled every day. It’s required that you have off-piste and ski touring experience. If you have no experience or if you are not sure about your ability to join, please feel free to get in touch with me, and let’s discuss it.

You’ll find below the program I usually propose. It might be adapted based on the snow and weather conditions before departure.

We will do a short ski tour to test the equipment to ensure that everything fits and works. We will prepare and plan our lunches for the tour – possibly lightening up your backpack, etc. We will sleep at the hotel in Andermatt.

Preparation day in Andermatt

The first day of the tour starts with a train ride to Realp, located just beyond Andermatt. We will eat a hearty lunch before putting on skins and walking towards Albert Heim hut … If we have energy left, we can continue towards Galenstock and enjoy some nice rides. Otherwise, we can also sit on the terrace and enjoy the awesome view for the rest of the day.

Realp (1 540m) - Albert Heim Hütte (2 543m)

The day starts early. Breakfast is served in the dining room. We will walk about 500 meters up until we get to Winterlücke. There, we will go down directly to Göcheneralpsee.  Or, we can also go through Lochberg depending on the weather. We then continue to Chelenaalptal towards the hut.

We start directly with the skins on and go to Sustenlimi which is about 700 meters up. There, we can choose whether we want to continue moving towards the top of Sustenhorn, 3500 m or just go down directly to Steigletcher where we will find our accommodation at the bottom of the valley. 1700 meters of altitude difference from the top of Sustenhorn … who can refuse that?

Chelenaalphütte (2350m) - Steingletcher (1 865m)

We will move towards Fünffingerstock and pass through the Obertaljoch pass (about 2 850m). We then have several choices to go down to Sustlibach. A great ride… nice views and hopefully good snow … last bit up towards Süstlihüttan. We can then enjoy some well-deserved drinks.

Steingletcher (1 865m) - Süstlihütte (2 257m)

The last day begins skinning up to Grassengrat / Stössensattel – a climb of around 600m. It’s perhaps the week’s best ride, an entire 1800 meters downhill. We will pass the Grassen bivouac (very beautiful) just below the mighty southeast wall of the Titlis. Once down in the valley, we take the local bus back to Engelberg.

Süstlihütte (2 257m) - Engelberg (1 000m)
