If you are up for the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and you are looking for a fast ascent, then join us on this 5-day Marangu route ascent to the summit of Africa’s highest peak!

Although it is a fast ascent, this route perhaps is **the easiest and most comfortable route** to reach the top of Kilimanjaro or Uhuru Peak, one of the world’s Seven Summits. The route is well-developed and the climb is constant and moderate.

Our team of experienced and certified local guides will make sure you enjoy an unforgettable and safe experience.  The Marangu route is the oldest established route and it approaches the summit from the southeast. It follows the same trail for the ascent and descent, meaning that it somehow less scenic compared to other routes.

Along this route, you will be staying in huts with dormitory style accommodation, the **Mandara, Kibo and Horombo huts**. But even though you will have your own matress in every hut, you will still need a sleeping bag. The Marangu route is also known as the “Coca-Cola” route, because you can find Coke in every hut on the way up.

During these days, you will be served delicious food and clean water, obtained and filtered from springs available on Mount Kilimanjaro. This program includes a **5-day climb and two nights at a hotel**.

We usually take small groups on our expeditions, for these allow our guides to offer a personalized experience and to quickly solve any issue that may arise. Your group will consist of only the people you chose to travel with and our mountain crew and porters.

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, our professional driver will take you to Moshi town, where you will spend the remaining day. We will also give you a short briefing about your upcoming trek. You may spend your day at the Hotel or hang around Moshi (taxi ride may be necessary).

Arrival in Moshi

After breakfast, we will make a short journey from your hotel in Moshi to the National Park gate, for the necessary formalities at the entrance. We start the climb through a fascinating tropical rainforest. We reach the first hut at Mandara for dinner and overnight stay. An alternative is to simply rest and relax enjoying the view of the beautiful forest around the camp.

Mandara Hut 

Today the first part of the hike is a steep ascent through a forest, but the path soon opens out into moorland and, in clear weather, there are great views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. We arrive at Horombo Hut mid-afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy the stunning scenery around the camp.

Horrombo Hut 

Today we climb very gradually towards the lunar desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. These 6-7 hours trek will be carried at a slow pace until we reach Kibo Hut (4,700m), where we will spend the night in a comfortable hut. Bear in mind there is no running water at Kibo Hut. The remainder of the day is spent relaxing and preparing for the final ascent before a very early night.

Kibo Hut

We wake up before midnight in darkness. We begin a steep climb over loose volcanic scree. Some well-graded zig-zags and a slow but steady pace will take us to the rim of the main crater, Gillman’s (5,685 m). We will rest there for few minutes to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi. Those who are still feeling good can continue slowly to make the three hour round trip from here along the crater rim to Uhuru peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. After a few minutes to appreciate your accomplishment we descend fast to Kiko Hut, and we stop at Kibo Hut for some refreshment, continuing our descent until we reach Horombo Hut.

Today we will descend past Mandara hut to Marangu National Park, successful climbers will receive their summit certificates. From here you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort for dinner and overnight.

After saying bye to our team in operation then  you need a private departure transfer, which is included, from Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight, unless you want to join us on another safari or any other option.

Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m) is Africa’s highest peak and one of the world’s **Seven Summits.** This trip  takes you to this famous summit in Tanzania through the Rongai route, along the border between Tanzania and Kenya, with a **7-day trek.**

This route ascends Kilimanjaro or Uruhu Peak from the north-eastern side of the mountain, through less forested landscapes. Although the scenery is not as varied as on the western routes, the Rongai route offers **a true sense of unspoilt wilderness**. The descend is made through the Marangu route.

This program includes two nights stay in hotels, before and after the climb, and a 7-day trek to the summit.  The Rongai route is not as popular as other routes, so it is great alternative to more crowded trails. It is also a good option if you decide to climb in rainy season, as this side of the mountain gets less precipitation.

Kilimanjaro Airport - Moshi

After an early breakfast in Arusha, we will transfer to the Rongai (Nalemoru) Gate near the Kenya border. We begin our climb on this unspoilt wilderness route. The trek then starts to go up consistently, but gently through attractive forest that shelters a variety of wildlife. The forest begins to thin out and the first camp is at the edge of the moorland zone (2600m) with extensive views over the Kenyan plains.  
The first day is only a half-day walk.

Rongai Camp (Full board)

The morning walk is a steady ascent up to the Second Cave, (3,450m) with superb views of Kibo and the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim. After a hot lunch we have free time to rest at the camp or in the afternoon we can explore the surrounding area with an acclimatization hike to Third Cave.

Rongai Second Cave (Full board)

Gradual rise through beautiful open moorland towards jagged pinnacles of Mawenzi to Kikelewa Camp (3679m). We reach in the late afternoon the Kikelewa Caves for dinner and overnight at the camp.

Rongai Kikelelwa Cave (Full board)

A short but steep ascent to Mawenzi Tarn (4330m). We leave the vegetation behind shortly before reaching the next camp at Mawenzi Tarn. The afternoon is free to help to your acclimatization.

Rongai Mawenzi Turn (Full board)

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m) in Tanzania is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Join us and reach the summit of Africa’s highest mountain with this special **9-day trekking expedition**, following the **Northern Circuit** route, enjoying great views and getting a **good acclimatization to altitude.**

Starting with a long drive from Moshi to the Londorossi Gate, this route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west.This itinerary offers **excellent views from all sides of the mountain**, including the quiet and rarely frequented northern slopes.

The Northern Circuit route is one of the best routes to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, **one of the world’s Seven Summits**. Along the trek, you will get spectacular almost 360 degrees views of stunning wild scenery as you traverse the mountain.

Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi

The Northern Circuit Route begins at Londorossi Gate (2,100 meters) in the West, the same starting point as the Lemosho Route. The drive to Londorossi Gate takes approximately two hours from Moshi and it is considerably longer from Arusha. Registration with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities at the gate. Then we will drive further up the mountain to the trailhead starting point. You may get lucky and spot large wildlife like elephant and buffalo that sometimes emerge from the rainforest onto the path as you trek towards your first camp. Dinner will be served when you reach Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Londorossi Gate (2,100 meters) – start point 2,360 meters to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820 meters)

On day two you will spend the first hour of trekking through the last section of rainforest path before entering the low alpine moorland zone which follows up onto the Shira Plateau. The trek is relatively short and gradual, ending at Shira Camp 1 (3,610 meters).

On day three the trek crosses the Shira Plateau from Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2. At Shira Camp 2 it is worth trekking a little higher up the plateau to enjoy the stunning view across the valley below and Western Breach of Kilimanjaro above.

Shira Camp 1 (3,610 meters) to Shira Camp 2 (3,850 meters)

Day four is a long trek heading east which passes through the ‘Garden of the Senecios’ and then enters the high alpine desert zone. The morning is spent trekking up to Lava Tower and the iconic Shark’s Tooth rock formation at 4,600 meters, where you will have lunch. After lunch you will join the northern circuit heading down to Moir Camp at 4,200 meters.

This is an important day as you will get to experience high altitude and then sleep low, which is good for the acclimatization process.

Shira Camp 2 (3,850 meters) to Lava Tower (4,600 meters) and then north to Moir Camp (4,200 meters)

Day five involves a moderately steep climb out of Moir Valley. Trekkers can take a small detour here to climb the summit of Little Lent Hill at 4,375 meters before returning to the Northern Circuit trail. From here the route follows a series of inclines and declines, skirting around the northern slopes of Kibo to Buffalo Camp (4,020 meters).The trek gives great vistas out across the plains that lie north of Kilimanjaro and stretch out to the Kenyan / Tanzanian border. You will arrive at Buffalo Camp just after midday, where you will have lunch and have time to rest after a long day of hiking.

Moir Camp (4,200 meters) to Buffalo Camp (4,020 meters)

Day six starts with a climb up the Buffalo ridge and down into Porfu Camp where lunch is usually served. The route then continues east around the northern slopes to the Rongai Third Cave at 3,800 meters. The trek is shorter than the day before and by now you should be feeling well acclimatized to the altitude. We will arrive at the Third Cave just around mid-afternoon.

At around 11:30 we will have a hot tea and biscuits and will then begin the steep incline up the slopes of Kibo under the cover of darkness. Your first check-point is Hans Meyer Cave where you will take a short break. The climb steepens as you approach Gilman’s Point (5,681 meters), which will be around 5-6 hours after departing School Hut. The trail to Gilman’s Point is very steep and the ascent will be slow and steady. From Gilman’s, it is a traverse along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak. We stay at the summit for a short time, to take photos and enjoy the views, before retracing our steps to Stella Point, and then descend down a long, rocky path to Mweka Camp.

School Hut (4,800 meters) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) and then onto Mweka Camp (3,950 meters)

The final day is a short hike through the dense mountain rainforest from Mweka Camp (3,950 meters) to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters).

This will be the last day for the journey which will be accompanied by the by a traditional farewell ceremony, you will gently descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you will be met and transferred to Moshi where you will can celebrate your achievement

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport or alternatively you can extend your trip in Tanzania and go on a safari.

Rising to an impressive 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in all of Africa and the easiest of the world’s Seven Summits to climb.

The adventure begins after we pick you up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Moshi. At the hotel, we will go over the plan for the rest of the trip.

The real fun begins the next day, when we transfer to Kilimanjaro National Park and begin ascending through a lush tropical rainforest. As we go, we’ll have the chance to see some of Africa’s iconic wildlife.

Over the course of the following week, we will continue making our way along the Southern Circuit, enjoying some of the best views available of Mount Kilimanjaro, before ascending the peak via the western flank.

The highlight of the trip is summit day, when we will get a pre-dawn start and head up to the summit, climbing between two glaciers and enjoying a phenomenal sunrise over East Africa en route.

The views from the top are phenomenal and will leave you yearning to explore the rest of the region.

We will start the day by hiking up to the Lava Tower, before descending into the Barranco Valley to Barranco Camp, which is perhaps the most beautiful on Kilimanjaro.

We will have a relatively short day, hiking over a steep ridge and heading on to the Karanga Valley, where we will stay at the Karanga Camp. The afternoon will be free to relax and prepare for our upcoming summit night.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,035m/13,238ft)

We will spend the day, hiking up to Barafu Camo, enjoying some stunning views of Kilimanjaro as we go.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640m/15,223ft)

Starting at between midnight and 2 am, we will begin heading to the summit of Uhuru Peak (the tallest on the massif), hiking between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. We will continue climbing until we reach Stella Point (this is the hardest part of the whole trek), where we will enjoy a phenomenal sunrise before continuing to the summit.

After enjoying the top for a bit, we will begin to descend, making our way all the way down to Mweka Camp.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19,340ft) to Mweka Camp (3,080m/10,104ft)

We will spend a leisurely day descending back to the trailhead and transferring out of the park and back to Moshi.

This 6-day trek takes you to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m), Africa’s highest peak and one of the world’s Seven Summits, via the scenically attractive **Rongai route**, departing **close to the Kenyan border.**

This itinerary approaches the summit from the less frequented and drier north-eastern side of Kilimanjaro, offering **amazing views over the African savannah** and rugged Mawenzi.

We will be hiking throug **well developed trails** and pass through fir forest, rain forest and alpine desert. Just after Mawenzi Tarn Camp we will pass the only mountain lake in Kilimanjaro National Park.

Although the Rongai route is generally be thought to be a relatively easy route, bear in mind that the rocky passages in the summit area may be a little more demanding than in other routes.

The rest of the day is for you to enjoy at leisure – relax at the hotel pool or take a taxi and explore the town of Moshi. In the late afternoon one of our Kilimanjaro team members, will brief you on your upcoming trek.

After breakfast we will take you around Mt Kilimanjaro to its north-western side and after 3 to 4 hours, you will arrive at the Nalemoru Gate. Once the registration process is completed and your luggage divided between the porters, your adventure begins. The path runs alongside mountain farmers’ fields and pine forests before it enters the sparse mountain forest zone, where black and white colobus monkeys can often be seen. After an approximate 3 to 4 hour hike, you will reach the Simba Camp where you will spend the night.

Moshi – Nalemoru Gate (1,990 m) – Simba Camp (2,625 m)

Today’s trek passes through the heather and moorland zones and the views of Mawenzi and the vast Kenyan steppes are nothing short of grand. You will have lunch at the Second Cave (3,450 m) and after a short break, you will cross the undulating terrain to Kikelewa Camp. This camp boasts incredible views and after a strenuous day’s climb, you can relax and take in its peaceful ambience.

Simba Camp (2,625 m) – Kikelewa Camp (3,630 m)

The typical senecien vegetation will soon disappear and the scenery will become more barren with the occasional rock formations. In good weather you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Kibo and Mawenzi summits as well as Kenya’s savannah grasslands. After passing a few more rock formations, you will arrive at the Mawenzi Hut. For many mountain climbers, it is the most atmospheric camp on the mountain.

Kikelewa Camp (3,630 m) – Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4,310 m)

On a relatively easy path, today’s itinerary takes you over the Kibo Saddle. A lack of vegetation is characteristic for the landscape here as only a few types of grass and other plant species can survive in this dry area and thin air. Just before we reach our destination, one last rock passage has to be conquered. Finally you will arrive at the School Hut, where you can relax and mentally prepare yourself for tomorrow’s summit stage. Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner

Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4,310 m) – Kibo Hut (4,700 m)

The climb begins at around 00:00h and after a 5 to 7 hour walk on frozen volcanic ash, you will reach Gillman’s Point (5,715 m) on the crater’s edge. The sun rays will warm you while you trek for another 1 to 2 hours until you reach Uhuru Peak and finally stand on “Africa’s Roof”. The descent on the now thawed lava ash runs almost along the same route and you will arrive at the School Hut in the late morning. A warm meal will be served and after a well-deserved break, the descent continues to the Horombo Hut.

Kibo Hut (4,700 m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)

After trekking for approximately 5 to 6 hours, you will have managed the easy descent and you will return to the Marangu Gate during the early afternoon. You will say goodbye to your mountain crew and a short transfer will take you back to the Sal Salinero Hotel. Here you can take a warm and relaxing shower and celebrate your achievement.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport or alternatively you can go on safari or extend your stay at the beach.

We invite you to join us on this 7-day challenging trek to the summit of **Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m)** via the Machame route. This route takes you to Africa’s highest peak through **steeper passages and higher altitudes compared to other routes,** but also through an amazing variety of landscapes.

The **Machame route** offers occasional views of Mount Meru, Shira Ridge and Kibo summit as you make your way through lush rainforest, moorland and alpine desert. Along the way, you will be sleeping in tents, under the stars, enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Our adventure will begin at the **Machame Gate**, located at the southern base of the peak, within a lush rain forest. From there, we will make our way through the Shira Plateau before continuing our way up to Mount Kilimanjaro. **You can check the day-by-day itinerary below.** 

During these days, you will be amazed by the wild and stunning views all around, enjoying a spectacular sight from the top of Uhuru peak. After taking some time to appreciate your accomplishment at the top of the mountain, we will descend along the **Mweka Trail**.
