If you are visiting our beautiful island of **Madeira, Portugal**, then join us on Tuesdays for a wonderful hike. During 4 hours, we’ll travel the impressive **Levada do Caldeirão Verde**, one of the most iconic hiking paths on the island! 

This loop path begins and ends at the **Queimadas Forest**, in the municipality of **Santana**. We’ll go through a dazzling forest of rich flora and fauna: the **Laurisilva Forest**, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site. One of the best parts is the waterfall and pool at **Caldeirão Verde**, but we’ll be seeing water all along the path. The route will also take us through tunnels and settlements in **Santana, Ilha and São Jorge**.

The Levada do Caldeirão Verde is a truly magnificent green hiking path. It covers 13 kilometers of moderate difficulty that we’ll accomplish in, approximately, 4 hours.

The hiking path **PR6** that takes us to **25 Fontes** and the **Risco Waterfall** is one of the most popular hiking paths in **Madeira, Portugal**. Every Thursday and Saturday, we invite you on this morning hike for you to enjoy a unique experience on your visit to our beautiful island.

Our hike begins at the **Forestry Station of Rabaçal**, located in **Paúl da Serra**. We will follow two different levadas. The first one, the **Risco Levada**, takes us to the stunning Risco waterfall. We’ll then descend 900 meters to follow the **New Rabaçal Levada** which will take us to the pool at 25 Fontes, which you can swim in, if you don’t mind the cold water. The pool gets its name due to the many fountains or waterfalls that we’ll find there. We’ll return through the 800-meter **Cavaleiro Tunnel**.

This 11-kilometer path offers fantastic views of the protected area and a wonderful walk where we’ll enjoy the local flora and fauna. This trip will take us, approximately, 4 hours to complete.

The underground trail covers more than 100 meters with caves of up to 5 and 6 meters in altitude. The caves’ trail ends at an educational Volcanic Center where you can learn all about the geological evolution of the caves, the volcanic eruption and the birth of the Madeira archipelago. The area outside the caves also offers stunning views of the island’s south coast.
