**The Dolomites are well-known for its exciting via ferratas. If you want to try some of the best routes, join me on this week-long via ferrata trip!**

The **Dolomites** are located in **northern** **Italy**, near the Austrian border. Known for its **breathtaking scenery**, they are also famous for their role as an outpost during World War II, the residue of which you will see on this trip.

Our starting point will be the beautiful alpine town of **Cortina d’Ampezzo.** Throughout seven days, we’ll explore the area known as **‘Sexten Dolomites**‘, which are home to the Dolomites’ most iconic landmark: the **Tre Cime di Lavaredo** (also known as ‘Drei Zinnen’ in German or ‘Three peaks of Lavaredo’, in English).

We will hike and climb several via ferrata routes, reaching the summits of some of the Dolomites’ most impressive peaks and through historic tunnels.

This trip offers an intimate size of **3-5 participants**, making it a manageable and fun week-long adventure!

We will meet in **Cortina d’Ampezzo** to welcome the group and have a program meeting at **7 p.m.**

We will go to **Fiames**, located between **Dobbiaco and Cortina**. We will hike towards **Fanesalm** to bring us to two introductory via ferratas.

We will go from Lago di Landroto the via ferrata routewhich will lead us to **Monte Piano, (2,320 m).** There are still many visible signs of the cruel First World War.

We will go from the **Auronzo hut** and hike to the **Pattern saddle**. We will then leisurely make our way up to the **three-cabin, (2,405 m.)** We will then continue to the **unique via ferrata of the Toblinger Knot**, **80% of the ascent takes place on steep and exposed ladders**. The reward being the view from the summit to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

We will go through a **100 m long tunnel from the First World War**, which offers great photo opportunities through rock windows on the north walls to Monte Paterno**, (2,744 m)**. After the summit, we will go through a **200 m long tunnel.**

The **Via Ferrata Michielli Strobel** is one of the **most difficult via ferratas in the region**. On the tour you have beautiful views of the Tofana and down to Cortina. Here, you will bid farewell to the Dolomites.

Trek among the high alpine altitudes of the Dolomites, one of the most beautiful and impressive mountain ranges, and where legends are scattered across the land.

From Seiser Alm, the largest high-altitude alpine meadow in Europe, to the imposing rocks of Langkofelgruppe via the barren plateau of Sella, the gems of the Dolomites are an ever present.

We trek to Schlern, which soars over Seiser Alm, a mountain covered in spine-chilling myth. Witches once took refuge upon the mountainside to conduct black magic, and summon frightening thunderstorms around the area.

Visit the stunning nature reserves that are sparsely populated except for the wildlife. Roe deer, snow-grouse, marmots inhabit the land that features limestone pavements, fissures and wells.

And trek to Cortina, the glamorous mountain town known as the queen of the Dolomites.

At the end of each evening, sit back and relax in cozy mountain lodges. The slipping of the sunset behind the peaks provides a lovely and romantic atmosphere.

Luggage transfers make for a more comfortable trek as we don’t need to carry much on our backs.

The level for this trip is medium, and so good physical condition is required of all participants. In addition, sure-footedness is vital due to a walking time of around 5-6 hours at altitudes of between 2,000-3,000 meters.

After a short transfer to the Seiser Alm, we ascend to Schlern crossing its back with a hike to Alpe di Tires hut (2,550m).

We begin with a panoramic hike under the Plattkofel along to the Sella. For those who are very fit, an ascent to Plattkofel peak (2,965m). Overnight stay at the Friedrich August hut (2,300m) – now we’re in the part of the Ladin Dolomites.

After a short transfer to Pordoi and cable car ascent to Sass Pordoi, we climb to Piz Boé (3,150m). Here are inspiring views of surrounding mountains. Then we have a steep descent between rocks to Vallon (2,535m) and Passo Campolongo (1,860m). Overnight stay in the comfortable Hotel Gran Paradiso.

From the Capanna Alpina (1,726 m) our way leads us to Scottoni hut. Hiking along an old military road we reach Le Lagacio and Forcla de Lech (2,486 m). In front of us are the beautiful Fanes meadows. Here we take a rest. The path then continues to the Limo Lake and on Limo Pass (2,172 m). Then we descend to our lodging, the Fanes Hut.

We hike along a torrent between rocky walls, alpine meadows and waterfalls. Then we descend or take a short transfer to Cortina for a sightseeing tour, before returning to the Hotel Rose Wenzer in Völs.

The choice is yours: a hiking tour in the area of the Schlern or a sightseeing tour at the Bolzano, capital city of South Tyrol (17 km, bus in 30 minutes).

With easy hiking paths along the group of mountains, and luggage transfers creating comfort, this 7-day trip is perfect for those less experienced trekkers.

Without dipping below 2,000 meters above sea level, we’ll climb past the 3,000-meter mark occasionally.

To be able to join this trip, potential trekkers need to be in good physical condition. It’s also important for you to have experience of walking 5-6 hours at altitudes between 200 meters and 300 meters.

With a transfer to Seiser Alm, we ascend the Schlern crossing before a further hike to Alpe di Tires hut (2,550m)

We start with a hike under the Plattkofel before ascending to Plattkofel peak (2,965m). Overnight stay at the Friedrich August hut (2300m).

We ascent to Piz Boé (3,150m). Here there are inspiring views of the mountains. Then there is a steep descent to Vallon (2,535m) and Passo Campolongo (1,860m). And an overnight stay in the Scotoni hut.

Today we hike across the Dolomites High Trail to Forcella Lagazuoi. Here we have two options: for the very fit ones we turn to the left and hike through Val Travananzes, go up to Rifugio Giussani and Rifugio Canotre and get to Tofana to our next hut.

From our hut we cross the famous Olympia skislope and get to Rifugio Duca D’Aosta. We walk on changing trails through forests and pastures towards Cortina. We then return over the Dolomites Passes to Völs am Schlern.

**Have you ever wanted to ice climb in Italy?** Then join me on this **7-day ice climbing program in the Dolomites!**

**The Dolomites** are a famous mountain range in **northern Italy.** The area is known for its beautiful landscapes and history, having been important grounds during World War II.

Over the course of **7 days** we will visit some incredible frozen waterfalls. The most popular venues for ice climbing include the **Val Daone, Valsugana in Trentino and San Martino di Castrozza**. There is also an artificial waterfall in **Corvara** that we will get to climb, as well as some natural waterfalls in **Valle di Tures** in the South Tyrol area.

This trip is only offered for **2-4 participants** at a time, making it a nice and intimate adventure. I also ask that you have some **prior experience with ice climbing and rock climbing** before signing up.

Slope and slide across the UNESCO-listed Dolomite mountains and witness the wintry landscapes of the stunning mountain range.

Beginning in the Alpe di Siusi, Europe’s largest high-altitude alpine meadow, we follow the connections across the mountain range downwards.

Every day presents us new slopes with their own special landscapes, as we ski for approximately 6 hours each day.

With luggage transport included every step of the way, it makes our our skiing experience much more smooth.

And the mixture of hotels and mountain huts creates a cozy atmosphere for at the end of each challenging day.

We will ski past the stunning views of the 1,200-meter-high north wall of the Civetta, and continue downhill to Serrai, known as the Grand Canyon of the Dolomites.

Due to the level of difficulty involved, the long hours of skiing each day, participants are required to have a mastery of various levels of skiing.

We meet at Hotel Majestic in Bressanone at 7 pm. There is a program meeting and dinner.

Welcome to South Tyrol

After a short transfer to the Plose ski-lift, we warm up with an easy skiing day in Bressanone. In the afternoon we take a ride with the shuttle through the valley of Gardena to Sella Pass. From here we ski to the Buffaure hut.

Today we ski in the Alpe di Siusi, the biggest mountain pastures of Europe.  
At the foot of this massive mountain, we ski across the slopes of the Alpe di Siusi. In the afternoon we proceed to Val Gardena with its wonderful Seceda ski area.

Across Passo Pordoi we get to Corvara (1,500m), the entrance to the ski area of Alta Badia. Down the Pralongià pastures we reach Armentarola, and then to Passo Falzarego (2,105m).

We begin in the skiing area of Averau and Nuvolau. From here we go to Nuvolau and proceed by skibus to Pescul. There, we reach the Civetta skiing area, with 80km skiing slopes awaiting us, and stunning views of the 1,200-meter-high north wall of the Civetta. In the afternoon we return to Sasso di Stria.

Over Porta Vescovo, which itself is already worth a day trip, we reach the Marmolada, the most beautiful red downhill in the world, at 12km long. We will extend this downhill up to 15km by continuing to Serrai, known as the Grand Canyon of the Dolomites, a place of fantastic views and great skiing experience.

Today we ski along the Padon crest and Porta Vescovo to Arabba and even further to Passo Pordoi. Later on we reach the village of Lupo Bianco and its skiing area of Col Rodella on the Sella Pass. After lunch we go back to Ciampinoi. Here we let our ski trip end with a Grappa or aperitivo, before returning to Hotel Majestic**.**

Whether you are an experienced climber seeking a new challenge, or a beginner hoping to get your hands on the alpine rocks, there is a tour dedicated for you, from hiking and summit climbs to via ferratas and alpine climbing.

Daily climbing tours suited for novices include a beginner course, a climb to the Fensterle tower, the little Fermeda, the 5-Finger peak, and the 1. + 2. Sellaturm.

For those with a small bit of experience, suitable climbs include the Vajolet towers, and the Santner peak, which can also be adapted for intermediate climbers.

Other intermediate climbs involve the Rosengarten peak and the Ciavazes south west wall.

If you’re looking for a tour on a via ferrata, then beginners would enjoy Rotwand – Roda di Vael, or the little and big Cir Peaks, both of which has an easy grading as well as a difficult grading.

Via ferratas with moderate difficulty include Kessel Kogel – Catinaccio d’Antermoia (3,004m), the west ridge of Marmolada (3,342m), the normal way of Marmolada (3,342m), and the Maximilian ferrata. The Santner Pass and the Sass Rigais (3,025m) both have options of moderate and difficult.

Finally, those seeking difficult to very difficult via ferratas can challenge themselves to Pisciadu – Tridentina, the Masaré ferrata, the Pößnecker – Ferrata delle Meisules, the Col Rodella ferrata, and the Laurenzi ferrata.

**Looking for a less-traveled ski destination in Italy?** Join me on this **3 day ski tour in the charming mountainside of Gran Sasso!**

The **Gran** **Sasso d’ Italia** is a massif in the Apennines, located in the **Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park**, in the region of **Abruzzo.** The area is a relatively **well-kept secret** so you will enjoy the charm of skiing in a secluded area.

We will begin our **3-day excursion** leaving **Bolzano** and going over to **Campo Imperatore**, which is a beautiful alpine meadow close by. Then, over the following days we will get to explore the **Corno Grande (2,912 m)** and the **Monte Camicia (2564** m), walking over high points of ascension in order to reach these summits.

This trip is only offered to **3-6 participants** at a time, making it small and manageable. More still, you will get to unwind at a lovely **hotel** after the end of each jam-packed day.

Go to **Bolzano** and we will stay overnight at **Campo Imeratore**

 We will go from **Fonte Vetica (1600m approx.)** through a glade in the **Jungwald direction** of the recognizable **Rinne di Vradda.** There are **two options**: Either you stay low and climb directly into the initially rather narrow channel, or you can cross a bit higher, but then have to pass steep slopes. This climb is only possible in **safe snow conditions.**

Corno Grande (2,912 m)

We will drive to **Fonte Vetica (about 1600 m)**. From there we will climb over the **Valle Vradda** to the summit. The descent is either via the west flank or via the ascent route, about **1000 m.**

Monte Camicia (2564 m)
