I'm an IFMGA mountain guide and also a mechanical engineer based in Celje, Slovenia. Over the past years, I’ve been on more than 700 alpine trips in the Western Alps, the Dolomites, Peru, Turkey and Greece. My favorite activities are climbing and skiing.

In Peru, for example, I made a descent from the southern saddle of Vallunaraju (5696 m). Another challenging downhill on skis that I did was in the northern wall of Bavškega Grintavca and the massif Kanin.

In addition to mountaineering, I enjoy practicing other sports like rock climbing, biking, whitewater kayaking and Pilates. I think these activities are a great source of spiritual and personal growth.

I also love spending time with my family: my wife, daughter and our dog.

Guided splitboarding day in the Kanin Mountains

**The Kanin mountains are a part of the Julian Alps, lying on the border between Slovenia and Italy. Come with me and discover this beautiful and less explored region!**

This group of mountains divide the large ski resort of **Bovec** and the Soča **Valley** in Slovenia, with the **Resia Valley**, in Italy. The highest peak is **Big Mount Kanin (2587 m).**

Our 2-day hiking traverse will begin late in the afternoon in Bovec. From there, we’ll go up to **Kanin ski resort.** However, there are two different ways of getting there. We can go either on a cable car (plus a 45 minutes hike) or hike for 3 hours if the cable car is already closed. Finally, we’ll arrive to a new modern bivouc where we’ll spend the night.

The following day we’ll take a route called **‘Visoka rosijanska pot’** (in Slovenian), **Alta Via Resiana** (in Italian) or **High Resia Way**, a famous and very beautiful high route on the southern ridge of the Kanin mountains.

Our traverse will begin on a saddle under **Vrh Žlebi.** We’ll get there after a 1.5 hour of hike from the bivaouc. Then, almost 5 hours later we’ll **reach the summit of Big Mount Kanin.**

The whole trip will be a combination of **scrambling** (up to grade 3 UIAA) and **mountain hiking.**

Because of that, you should be in a good physical condition.

After admiring a great view from the top of Big Mount Kanin, we’ll descend to the bivouc in 2 hours.

This as a great opportunity to enjoy mountain hiking in a pure, isolated and uncrowded region. If the weather is good, you’ll have a very pleasant hiking experience!

The tour begins in **Bovec**. Then, we go up to **Kanin ski resort** and overnight in new modern bivaouc. If the cable car is not working we’ll hike for 3 hours to reach the bivouc. Otherwise, it’s just a 45 min nice hike from the cablecar.

The ‘High Resian way’ traverse begins on a saddle under Vrh Žlebi (1,5 hour from the bivaouc).  Then we summit Big Mount Kanin (2587 m). (5 h)  And descent to the bivouc (2h).

A part of the gorgeous **Julian Alps**, the equally impressive **Kanin mountains** are a fantastic highlight of **Slovenia**. Located near the **Italian border**, this collection of peaks is a great place to explore, climb, and ski, and for the purpose of this **full day trip**, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a thrilling **ski tour** within them.

The trip will begin in a local ski resort that happens to be the highest resort of its kind in the country. The views of the range’s great peaks, including **Visoki Kanin (2,587m)**, from the resort alone are worthy of a great day trip. However, for the purpose of this trip, the resort is just our starting point. From the resort we will take a short walk to the other side of the **Soca valley** and begin the **ski tour**. The routes we will take will depend on **snow and weather conditions**. But I can promise you that no matter which way we choose to go, I will take you to the best places, insuring you will have a great time.

We will descent from heights of **600 to 800 metres.** Thus giving you the chance to enjoy some great descents. You will also have the chance to visit a local village named _Zaga_ during this trip as well.

**The Kanin mountains are a fantastic place to visit during the winter months. But they are an even better place to ski during those months. The **Kanjavec mountain (2,569m)** in the **Julian Alps** is a marvellous peak. Located in the **Triglav national park**, this amazing peak is a wonder within a mountain range full of wonders. And on on this **2 day trip**, you will have the chance to enjoy an exciting **ski touring** adventure on that peak.

The **ski tour trip** will begin at an altitude of about **600 metres**, at **Zadnjica**, in the **Trenta valley**. From there we will make our way further and further up the **Kanjavec mountain**. The ascent is not too difficult and the views during the ascent are spectacular, as you will get to see an abundance of the range’s surrounding peaks, as well as the vastness and beauty of the **Triglav national park**.

At the end of the first day, we will reach a **mountain hut** at the **Prehodavci pass (2.071m)**, where you will get to enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep. Early the next morning, you will get to enjoy some wonderful **skiing descents** on the **Kanjavec mountain’s** slopes. And while where we ski will depend on weather and snow conditions, I know this area very well, so I will be able to properly and safely guide you to the right spots by way of the right routes. Thus making sure you have the opportunity to enjoy a memorable and thrilling skiing experience.

The **Soca valley** is full of breathtaking, gorgeous landscape, some of the best you will ever see in **Slovenia**. And while it is a very popular destination in the summer months, where visitors can do everything from **canyoning** to **sky diving**, it becomes a completely different world in the winter. Thus why I believe this **1 day ski touring adventure** is the perfect trip for anybody looking to explore this amazing area from a different perspective.

This trip is very unique when compared to other **ski touring** trips because there are several different options as to where we can go. All of the options involve various combinations of the pearls of the area. Those combinations include **Krn and Krncica**, **Planina Razor and its surroundings**, and finally **Planina Razor and Krn**. We will make our choice based on the **snow and weather conditions**.
