Description

The Kanin Mountains are located in the Julian Alps in Slovenia, near the Italian border. These breathtaking peaks are a great spot for winter sport enthusiasts. On this guided splitboarding day in the Kanin Mountains, I will take you on an exhilarating excursion through some of its most beautiful places.

Our trip will begin at an amazing resort from where we will have stunning views of the Visoki Kanin (2,587m).  From there, we will set off to the other side of the Soca Valley in order to begin our splitboarding tour. We will descend from heights of 600 to 800 m. Also, we will get a chance to visit Zaga, a small local village. Apart from enjoying amazing rides, we will get the chance to revel in the bejeweled landscapes of the region with its turquoise waters and sparkling white peaks.

For this trip you will need to have some prior splitboarding experience. It is also important for you to have a good fitness level. Of course, I will be there every step of the way to help and guide you.

Mountain Guide

I'm an IFMGA mountain guide and also a mechanical engineer based in Celje, Slovenia. Over the past years, I’ve been on more than 700 alpine trips in the Western Alps, the Dolomites, Peru, Turkey and Greece. My favorite activities are climbing and skiing.

In Peru, for example, I made a descent from the southern saddle of Vallunaraju (5696 m). Another challenging downhill on skis that I did was in the northern wall of Bavškega Grintavca and the massif Kanin.

In addition to mountaineering, I enjoy practicing other sports like rock climbing, biking, whitewater kayaking and Pilates. I think these activities are a great source of spiritual and personal growth.

I also love spending time with my family: my wife, daughter and our dog.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
