**All the way from Cerro Pelao (3182 meters) to el Caballo (3013 meters), join me on this on this 3-day hiking trip to Sierra Nevada’s 3-thousanders!**

During this 3-day adventure, participants will discover the amazing Sierra Nevada’s 3-thousanders, including **Mulhacen (3.482m.),** **el Puntal de Vacares (3.138m.)**, **La Alcazaba (3.366m.),Cerro de los Machos (3.329m.) and Veleta (3.392m.).**

**Our meeting point will be in Granada or Alpujarras,** and from there participants will be transported to the Postero Alto Hut, located at 1850 meters. During the days to come we will be climbing the different amazing peaks that can be found in **Sierra Nevada National Park.** We’ll spend the nights  at camping sites we will find along the way.

**You will find a detailed itinerary below!**

Keep in mind that this trip is suitable for **experienced climbers** who are in great physical condition as **we will be hiking between 7 and 9 hours a day.**

From Postero Alto we begin our ascent to the first three thousand: Cerro Pelao (3.182m.). We continue along the summit rope (Puntal de los Cuartos, Atalaya, El Cuervo …) to Puntal de Vacares (3.182m.), From where we descend to the Calderetas to spend the night.

Accommodation and dinner in camping regime. 8 a 9h.

We move towards the northwest to El Alcazaba (3,366m.),

Descend to Siete Lagunas and from here we continue our march to Mulhacén, roof of the peninsula (3,482m.).

We continue through Rio Seco valley towards the Cerro de los Machos and Pico del Veleta, dedicating the day to the summits of the Central Sector of Sierra Nevada.

Lodging and dinner in Veleta refuge and / or camping in the Lagunillos de la Virgen.

El Alcazaba (3366 mt) - Siete Lagunas - Mulhacen (3482 meters) - Cerro de los Machos - Pico del Veleta

Lagunillos de la Virgen, Elorrieta (3.183m.). Valley of the Lanjarón River to the Cerro del Caballo (3,013m.).

We descend  2,300m. where participants will get transferred to the town of Lanjarón.

Transfer to Granada.

**Join Jesús,** **local AEGM-UIMLA Mountain Leader, on an amazing 3-day adventure in the spanish Sierra Nevada, where you’ll learn all the fundamental techques of ski touring and mountain safety.**

The Sierra Nevada is a stunning mountain range in the southern spanish region of Andalusia which, aside from being uniquely located near the Mediterranean Sea, is also home to the highest peaks in Western Europe outside of the Alps, many of these well above 3,000m in height.

Although a lot of people choose to ski at the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort, this National Park offers enormous amounts of pristine skiable terrain. And the best way to discover and explore the wilder side of this amazing range, with its wide valleys, pristine snow covered flanks and stunning peaks, is by ski touring! From December to May the Sierrra Nevada National Park can be traversed on skis, the very best period being early spring due to the milder weather conditions and the perfect consistency and uniformity of the snow.

On this introductory course we will discover how ski touring gives us the opportunity to fully experience the beauty of a mountain environment, enjoying the silence and pristine untouched snow well away from the crowds of tourists. We will also be learning key safety procedures such as basic high mountain safety and avalanche rescue techniques to ensure we are prepared and know what to do in the event of an emergency in the mountains.

3-day Intro to ski touring in the Sierra Nevada National Park in Spain

**Join Jesús, local AEGM-UIMLA Mountain Leader, on a stunning 2-day winter adventure and climb the 3 highest peaks of the beautiful Sierra Nevada range in the southern spanish region of Andalusía.**

The Sierra Nevada National Park, besides being the gorgeous landscape serving as backdrop to some of Andalusía’s most beautiful villages, is also home to the southernmost mountain range in all of Europe, boasting more than 20 peaks of over 3,000 m. Its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea makes it a truly unique destination with great biodiversity in its flora and fauna, which have earned it the status of Biosphere Reserve.

Above 2,000m the topography is predominantly made up of wide U-shaped valleys carved by glaciers, with thriving populations of Spanish ibex, wild boars, badgers, martens and wildcats. Around this altitude we also find countless pristine alpine lakes, many of which are also the sources of countless streams and rivers. In the Southeastern part of the range, the narrow gullies and steep gorges are occasionally bisected by tumultuous creeks that form out of nowhere during heavy rainfall.

The three highest peaks of the Sierra Nevada, Mulhacén (3,479 m) Veleta (3,396 m) and Alcazaba (3,371) are undoubtedly the stars of this whole mountainous region, due in part to the fact that climbing them does not present any substantial technical challenges when approached from the south or east sides.

On our journey we will be traveling broadly from North West to South-East, the first summit we’ll reach on the initial day being the stunning peak of Veleta , after which we will descend and spend the night at the scenic Poqueira mountain hut. The following day we will continue our trek towards Altos del Chorrillo and then start our ascent of Mulhacen, the highest peak in  Western Europe outside of the Alps. From here we will traverse North to conquer Alcazaba, our third and final summit and then hike all the way down to Trevelez where our adventure will conclude.
