Kim grew up in Tasmania, Australia where he began a life of adventure and climbing. At the age of 19 Kim began travelling the world and fell in love with alpine climbing. He spent the next 10 years climbing new routes and repeating test piece mountains in the remote corners of the planet.

Kim has 18 years of guiding experience and is the only guide in Tasmania to hold a UIAGM/IFMGA qualification. He is passionate about sharing knowledge and helping people achieve their dreams. He is a passionate educator and has 10 years of experience teaching on the Extreme/ polar medicine unit at The University of Tasmania, training and assessing new guides and training special forces units in mountain skills.

Some notable ascents include :

  • The second ascent of the west face of changabang in the Indian Himalayas (first alpine style)
  • Pilgrim the hardest alpine route on mt cook/ aoraki
  • Cerro Torre and Fitzroy in Patagonia
  • North face cholatse, Nepal
  • First ascents in Alaska and Canada

Kim currently splits his time between guiding in Tasmania, the French alps and the greater ranges.
