I am a certified hiking guide, trail running and sky running athlete. I was born and raised on the island of Madeira, Portugal, and I know all the trails here like the back of my hand.

Since I was a child, I love being in the middle of nature. Madeira Island is blessed with beautiful landscapes and a wide variety of endemic flora and fauna. I like to show you my clients the natural beauty of the island, tell them about its history and make them feel like locals, with wonderful tours, at their own pace.

As a trail running and sky running athlete, I have participated in many races of the world circuit, and I have represented the Portuguese team in European championships and World Championships several times. One of my most important results was in 2015, when I won the MIUT in Madeira115 km.

Join me on this journey to the highest peak in Madeira, Pico Ruivo (1,861m).

On our way we’ll discover breathtaking landscapes, interesting rock formations of volcanic origin, and unique flora and fauna. Upon reaching Pico Ruivo, we’ll enjoy awe-inspiring panoramic views. When the visibility is good you can get a glimpse of the rocky formation of Penha D’Águia, Serra das Funduras and Ponta de S. Lourenço on the far east of the island.

We’ll take the fastest and easiest path to Pico Ruivo. The 6km hike is of medium difficulty and will take us about 3 hours.

I will guide you on this fun, rewarding and stunning easy half-day of trail running around exquisite Madeira (12km or less), as **we physically push ourselves whilst not forgetting to take in and bask in the marvelous landscape, scenery and terrain around us**, the views ranging from lovely beaches and ocean, to rocky mountains, and vivacious green valleys and forests.

The island of Madeira is an autonomous region of Portugal located in the North Atlantic Ocean, and is **a popular year-round tourist destination due to its pleasant climate and its rich, fascinating and unique culture**. There is much biodiversity on the island, and several of its landscapes are classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

We will pick you up in the morning from your hotel, and from there we have a selection of routes 12km or less we can run on – **Larano, Portela, Ponta de Sao Lourenco, Poiso or Machico.**

**Larano** is a trail that connects the North Coast to the South Coast of the island, and much of it involves running on a mountainside looking out over the alluring Atlantic Ocean.

**Portela** is a much more green route, with lush forests and landscapes making for a peaceful path.

**Ponta de Sao Lourenco** winds along the most Eastern part of the island, and is one of the most picturesque runs you can do, as you will run through a nature reserve that displays some of the cutest landscapes imaginable, with diverse flora and fauna also on offer.

**Machico** is the second biggest city on Madeira, and the highlight of this trail is definitely the epic view back over the city from the Pico do Facho viewpoint.

**Poiso** is a high route, at 1400m above sea level, with 2 types of forest to run through and a dramatic descent to Ribeiro Frio before heading back up to Poiso itself.
