### **Known as the Matterhorn of the South, Mount Aspiring (3,033m) in the Southern Alps is an amazing peak. And, on this 6-day adventure, you will get to make your way up the great mountain to its beautiful summit.**

There are several routes that can be taken to the pinnacle of **Mount Aspiring**. Each route offers its own unique journey, and many of the routes involve climbing on alpine rock, snow and ice. However, based on your skill level, weather conditions and personal preferences, we will choose the best route for you.

The approach to the mountain will take place by way of the grassy flats of the **Matukituki Valley**. We will make our way through beech forest and then go up to the **Bevan Col** and go across the **Bonar Glacier**. Thus providing you with an amazing adventure just getting to **Mount Aspiring**. From there, we will climb to the summit, where you can bask in beautiful views of the **New Zealand** landscape. Moreover, you will get to spend your nights in comfortable mountain huts.

Participants on this trip should be in **good physical condition**. You should also have **prior climbing experience**.

### **There are a number of great back country ski touring locations that can be enjoy in New Zealand during the winter season. And, on this full day trip, I would like to guide you through one of the best of those spots: Wanaka.**

Throughout **Wanaka**, there are some truly fantastic locations to ski tour. Those locations include the **Remarkables and Treble Cone**. Each one of those places will provide you with some great slopes and descents. They will also provide you with some truly beautiful areas to admire for their natural surroundings.

Throughout this trip, you will get to ski on some magical untouched powder throughout the vast area’s collection of back country routes.

Due to the sheer amount of available terrain, there are places for everybody. As a result, this trip is **open to skiers of all levels**. However, it is important that participants are in **good physical condition**.

**Lobuje, also known as Lobuche, is a Himalayan mountain in Nepal close to the Khumbu glacier. It is 6119 meters high, and a stunning trek for anyone interested in high altitude mountaineering.** Of course, it is not an easy trek. It is the Himalayas after all! This is why it is very important to go with a guide that can help you and that knows how to pace a trek to optimise acclimatization and logistics. On this 22-day Lobuje East Ascent in Nepal, **I will guide you to the summit** of this beautiful mountain!

We will begin our expedition in Kathmandu. This beautiful city is well worth exploring in itself and will be a perfect start to our journey. From there, **we will follow a very gentle ascent program designed for you to adjust gradually to the altitudes** and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and culture of Nepal. On our way, we will have the chance to visit the breathtaking Gokyo lakes and Gokyo-Ri, a great viewpoint of the Everest, Lhotse and Cholaste. As we approach our objective, we will gradually become more familiarised with the terrain which will prepare us for the challenging climb on day 16. But before the peak, we will first stop at a basecamp in Lobuje where we will prepare for the climb. On day 15 we will work with fixed lines and jumaring as we continue to ascend and finally reach our summit on day 16.

Every day we will begin trekking at around 9am after breakfast. We will trek approximately 4 hours per day, give or take a few, depending on the itinerary. **We will have sherpa support and our own kitchen staff that will prepare our meals.** Our menu will be as follows (unless specified dietary constrained are notified in advance):

**Breakfast**: Oat or rice porridge, muesli, cereal, freshly made flat  
breads (Chapattis), eggs, omelettes.  
**Lunch:** Pasta, potatoes, vegetables with rice, tinned  
meat/fish, freshly made flat breads, coleslaw/salad  
**Afternoon tea**: Tea, coffee and hot chocolate and biscuits  
**Dinner**: Pasta, potatoes, curry, lentil dhal with rice, mixed  
vegetables with rice, tinned meat/fish, freshly made  
flat breads, fruit (fresh and tinned)  
**Mountain Food**: Porridge, dehydrated meals, biscuits, soup, muesli  
bars, chocolate, cheese, salami,

Having a hearty diet and enough resting time on our journey will ensure that our bodies adapt well to the demands of the excursion.

**Because this is such a carefully planned tour in terms of acclimatization, it is open for people with a wide range of levels.** However, although you don’t need to be a very experienced climber, you will need to be physically fit. Ideally, you will prepare for the trip in advance and I will be happy to offer you some considerations in this regard. Furthermore, an additional day has been scheduled into the itinerary to make up for any delays. Therefore, you should be able to really enjoy this tour at a good pace!

Arrival at Katmandu

We will begin with a steady prep of 1500m in order to begin acclimatising.

Prep at Katmandu

Our first trek will take us to an altitude of 2696m.

Flight Lukla – Trek to Monjo

Namche

To catch our breath, we will rest at an altitude of 3700m.

Namche acclimatization day

We will continue at a light pace to Thame at 3800m.

Thame – short day

An ascent to Lungden will take us to 4500m.

Lungden 

If the group morale is high we will continue up to Renjo Lha at 4900m. Otherwise, we will spend another day in Lungden to acclimatize.

Renjo lha - low camp (or full Acclimation day Lungden)

Finally, we will arrive to the stunning Gokyo Lakes!

Cross Renjo lha - Gokyo lakes (High Point 5360m)

Early in the morning we will ascend to Gokyo-Ri and then have an easy relaxing day after.

Gokyo lakes – Gokyo-Ri ( ascent early am then rest )

We will head to Dragnak and explore the stunning Cross Glacier.

Dragnak - Cross Glacier (moraine covered non technical) 

After the Cho Lah crossing we will reach our basecamp in Lobuje.

In order to acclimatize and be properly prepared for out summit climb on day 16, we will spend the day resting and preparing at 4836m.

Rest / prep / training 

This stretch of our trip will require us to carry our loads and start the climb to the summit. We will stop at 5200m.

Load carry / fix gully 

High camp

Finally, the big day. We will climb up to the summit and then return to base camp. The peak is at 6119m.

Summit- Basecamp 

A nice trekking day where we will descend to 3916m.

Pheriche- Pangboche 

After breakfast we will head back to Namche.

Namche 

As we continue to descend we will head back to Lukla.

Lukla

After flying back to Kathmandu, we will trek to Thamel.

Flight to KTM- Thamel

Departure

In case we get bad weather or have any delays we have scheduled in an extra day.
