Let me guide you on a beautiful hike up to **Mount Pelée’s caldeira.** It the most iconic volcano in **Martinique**!

The **island of Martinique** is an overseas region of **France** located in the eastern **Caribbean Sea**. It’s known worldwide for its beautiful beaches, with white sand and crystal clear water. But it’s also widely recognized for its    network of hiking trails.

**Mount Pelée (1397 m)** is the highest and most emblematic volcano to hike. It’s active but hasn’t erupted since 1902. It’s located at the northern end of the island and, due to its altitude, you can see both the **Atlantic and Caribbean seas as you hike up**.

On this occasion, I offer to take you up to the volcano’s caldeira. The trail is the same we use to get to the volcano’s summit but we just don’t go as high. On the way up, you’ll enjoy the most unforgettable views and, once at the caldeira, you’ll get to wander around the volcano. Durantion: 4 or 5 hours.Take into account that this hike is quite demanding: **you need to be comfortable with steep, uneven and sometimes muddy or slippery terrain.**

You´ll need good **hiking boots** (please note that tennis shoes are not enough) and a light vest in case it gets cold as we ascend. Make sure you also bring at least 1 litre of water to make sure you stay hydrated.

Join me on this half-day hike to Martinique and visit a paradise on Earth.

**Martinique** is a French island located in the **Caribbean Sea**. Due to its hiking trails, it is the perfect place for a hiking adventure. One of the main points of interest in Martinique is the wide variety of landscapes to admire.

First of all, we will visit a dry forest and appreciate the cactus surrounding the savannah by the sea. After that, we’ll see some typical vegetation of the area and admire from the top of a cliff, the fantastic point where the **Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea**. Finally, we’ll explore a wild coconut sand beach.

After the hike, you will have the possibility of swimming in one the beautiful beaches. If you want, a picnic lunch as well as the transportation are available with some extra charge. This tour is **open to everyone during the whole year**.

**Martinique is a unique Caribbean Island and is famous for its network of hiking trials.** This hikers’ paradise is located in the eastern Caribbean Sea and is one of the eighteen regions of France.

This adventure will take place in the heart of Martinique’s great rainforest, providing breathtaking views along the entire tour. Our starting point will be in the middle of this **impressive mahogany forest** and from there we will direct ourselves towards a beautiful “himalayan” bridge, great for taking pictures!

After crossing this bridge, our ascent towards the emerald green world will start! At the top, hikers will enjoy the view on both the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea side of the island and some of the peaks located nearby.

**Keep in mind that this loop trail is about 3.5 hours, 500 meters of ascent (1500 feet ascent) and is not recommended for beginners!**

The rainforest is composed of hundred of different species of trees and plants and it will be my honor to **safely guide you** around this place while telling you all kinds of stories about it.

Half-day hike in the Caribbean rainforest in Martinique

On this **1 day hiking adventure**, I would like to guide you through the island of **Martinique**. This small but gorgeous island is one of the most preserved hiking spots in the Caribbean islands.

On this full fay hike, I would like to guide you through the northern Caribbean side of Martinique. The program is composed of a half day hiking adventure (about 3 hours) and a half day visit to some very interesting spots on the island.

The northern Caribbean side of Martinique **has a very charming and authentic atmosphere.** I can pick you up from a number of different places: from Fort-de-France, to Trois Ilets or Sainte Luce. After a 1.5 hours drive, we will reach the end of the road and the beginning of the lush rainforest at the Couleuvre river.

We will then hike in the rainforest where you will get to see an assortment of **stunning flora**: there are more than 400 hundred species of trees in Martinique, three times as much as in Europe!

At the end of our hike, we will reach a **100-meter high waterfall**, with the water running down from a nearby volcano. We will also get to explore the 18th century ruins of a former cocoa and sugar cane plantation, built by some of the **island’s first settlers**. And finally, we will get to two of the nicest sand and coconut palm tree beaches.

During the drive to northern Martinique (and on the way back), you will have the chance to see a number of other places, including **the old city of Saint Pierre**, a nice view of the Mount Pelee volcano (1,397m) and some stunning overlooking points. There is even the chance for some rum tasting in the old rum plantation house as well as discovering other beaches and a fisherman’s market.

We can have lunch in St Pierre after the hike or we can plan for a pic nic at the beach.
