Born in 11 August 1975 in the mountainous district of Jiri / Dolakha, I’ve spend my last 23 years in the trekking and mountaineering sector and this is undergoing till date...

I’m a certified mountain guide of the UIAGM/IFMGA/IVBV. I’m also a certified Mountaineering Instructor from Ecole Nationale de Ski et Alpinism in France (ENSA). I'm serving Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) and Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA) as a Mountaineering Instructor.

I’ve gained enormous experience in the Himalaya as well as in the Alps. I’ve reached the top of 4000 meters peaks of the Alps and the world highest mountains including Mt. Everest (8848m) which I successfully summited 7 times.

I summit at least one 8000 meters mountain every year with my clients.

I'm also very much involved in the Nepali mountain rescue team with which I have saved lives of locals and foreigners trying to reach our peaks.

Beside being a professional mountain guide, I’ve been very much involved with the “Save the Everest” cleaning campaign that took place in spring 2011.

**The Mera peak, in Nepal, rises to an impressive altitude of 6476 meters. We will ascend it during 18 intense and rewarding days, an unforgettable mountaineering experience.**

I have designed the itinerary to ensure an adequate acclimatization. To this end, I decided to follow a longer route. I have many years of experience climbing in this fantastic region of the world. Thus I can confidently say that this longer route will improve your chances to summit the Mera peak safely. Besides, you will enjoy even more the climbing experience!

Firstly, we fly to Lukla. That is where the proper expedition starts. We will hike up to some of the Hinku valley, Pangkongma and to Panch Pokhari. We will continue until base camp.

The base camp is Mera La, at 5415 meters. Once we get there, we will dedicate one day to train climbing. We will cover several aspects of climbing techniques and work on improving your skills. This includes glacier travel, fixing ropes, and ascent and descent techniques. In this way I will make sure you master all the necessary climbing skills to reach the summit safely and confidently.

We will then set camp at an altitude of 5800m, at the high camp. The location will be on a rocky shelf, sheltered by a large rock. The high camp has one of the best panoramic views of the whole trip. Besides, this location will allow for a shorter and more enjoyable summit day.

Summit day begins very early. We will follow the northern route until the summit. The climb here is gradual, and the views along the way are truly outstanding. The panorama keeps getting better and better. Finally, upon reaching the Mera summit you won’t believe the views. It is one of the prime spots to take in all the beauty of the Himalaya. Some of the 8000 meters peaks that we will see include the mythical Mount Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Cho-Oyu (8201m), Makalu (8463m) and Kanchenjunga (8586m). Besides, Chamlang (7319m) and Nuptse (7855m) are also visible.

**Manaslu** (8156 m), situated in the west-central part of **Nepal**, is the eight highest mountain in the world. The name is derived from the Sanskrit word Manasa which means “intellect” or “Soul”.

Japanese climbers Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu were the first to climb this mountain in 1956. Since then this mountain has been regarded as a Japanese mountain.

The region offers a variety of trekking options. But the most popular among them is the Manaslu circuit trek. It is a 15 days trip covering a trail of around 160 km. It is geographically spectacular, culturally fascinating and provides awesome mountain scenery.

This trek starts from Arughat. It follows the ancient salt-trading route along the Budhi Gandaki river to Nupri, a valley of Tibetan people. Then it goes around the Manaslu massif over the Larkya La Pass (5235 m). Finally, it goes down to the famous Annapurna circuit trail.

The Manaslu trek trail is rough, steep and it often literally hangs on a bluff high above the river.

**The Upper Mustang trek** brings you into the hidden world of the old Buddhist kingdom of Mustang, also called Lo. Lo used to be part of the Tibetan empire, and is therefore closely related to Tibet. Tibetan Buddhism is still being practiced in a very pure form. Villages are built in Tibetan style, with white washed houses with firewood tucked on the roofs.

Not only the culture, also the landscape is very much related to Tibet. Mustang lies in the rain shadow of the Dhaulagiri and you walk in a complete desolate landscape, surrounded by rocks of all kind of colours and bizarre formations. In this barren landscape the villages with their bright coloured fields are like an oasis.

The trail follows the salt caravan route of the old days, during which the people of Mustang traded Tibetan salt with grain from the lowlands. The goal of the Upper Mustang trek is the capital of Upper Mustang, Lo Mangtang. Lo Mangtang is a medieval town, a huge town wall surrounds it.

From the pass Lo La (3950 m) you can see the town shimmering in the distance in the barren landscape. Entering Lo Mangtang through the town gate you enter a different world. It is just wonderful to wander through the narrow alleys. On several corners of the street you can find small groups of women spinning wool and discussing the news of the day. At the end of the afternoon big herds of goats go through the city gate and through the narrow alleys, back to their sheds, which are inside the town.

In Lo Mangtang you can find the palace of the king, a huge 4 story high building. When the king is at home, you can even pay him a visit sometimes. The king doesn’t have any real power anymore, but of course his people still highly respect him.

Besides, there are a few beautiful big monasteries, for example the Thugchen Gompa, built in the 15th century. Or visit the amchi museum and amchi school. An amchi is a traditional Tibetan doctor. There are 2 amchis living in Lo Mangtang, which are also the official doctors of the king. They founded a school to preserve this ancient wisdom. Also interesting is a ride by horse to Chhoser, where you can visit a small monastery and a century old cave dwelling, situated high in the rocks.

**Upper Dolpo** trekking trail is in the far west Nepal. This is a trip to one of the last remnants of traditional Tibetan culture. We will travel through territories which are not much frequented by the outside world.

The trek along the Naar-Phu valley to the Tibetan style villages of Phu and Naar and out across the Kang La is one of the most exciting new trips in Nepal. Spending 9 days exploring this lost Buddhist region, we trek as far as the remote stone-built village of Phu, whose inhabitants continue to trade across the border. We then turn off into a broad and rocky tributary valley, passing numerous chortens, mani walls and unusual gateways en route to Naar. Climbing to cross the Kang La (5306m) at the head of this valley, we have simply fantastic views of the Annapurnas, before dropping down to the stunning monastery at Braga. From Braga in the Marsyangdi Valley we follow a rarely-used trail which leads to the stunning Tilicho Lake beneath 7000 metre Tilicho Peak, where glaciers tumble right down to the lake. Finally, trekking to the north end of the lake we make a crossing of the Tilicho Pass with breathtaking vistas over the Tibetan Plateau, to reach the airstrip at Jomsom in the Kali Gandaki Valley. **Climbing Mount Everest is an extraordinary adventure which we will live together and most probably never forget! My name is Lakpa Sherpa, I’m an International Certified Mountain Guide (IFMGA) from Nepal and a guide leader for high altitude expeditions in the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, from both the south and north sides.** 

Mt Everest is on the highest plateau in the world, in Tibet, although its south side is located in Nepal. **The climb via the North Col or North Side is much more accessible than through the South Side.** In going through the north, climbers avoid facing the Khumbu Ice Falls, a time consuming stage.

The Everest North Face route is more straightforward, technically speaking, than the South face. Since the past 10 years, it is accessible to drive until the base camp. Then we take Yaks and progress until Camp 3 or the Advance Base Camp (6500 m).

George Mallory and Andrew Irvine approached the Tibet route in 1920 and 1924. They were the first to try to summit Mt Everest. They didn’t succeed in these occasions, and it ended costing them their lives. Mallory’s motivation, as he told the reporters, to ascend Mt Everest, was “because it’s there”.

The first to successfully summit Mount Everest were Tenzing Norgey Sherpa (Nepal) and Sir Edmund Hillary (New Zealand), in 1953. They ascended via the South ridge.

**Me and my team will have expeditions during the pre and the post monsoon periods.** In late May the chances of summiting the Everest are the highest. Before going to the top, we acclimatize in April and early May. Then we have a good rest at the base camp and finally attempt the summit.

On arrival I will meet you and help you transferring to your hotel. I will then brief you on the trip details with necessary information.

According to the program and if you decided for the sightseeing day guided tour, you will be picked up at your hotel. You will have the chance to see / visit the world heritage sites like the holy Hindu temple Pashupati Nath, the world biggest Stuppa of Boudhhanath (Little Tibet), the oldest Swoyambhunath Stupa (monkey temple), the Kathmandu Durbar Square.

This day will be dedicated for the preparation of the expedition. We check / buy the essential equipment, gears, harness, crampons, ice axe with leash, webbing, cord, trekking poles, sleeping bag, headwear, footwear and other stuff. Our staff will obtain necessary permits and papers for the expeditions. There will be a special meeting in the evening regarding our pre-expeditions discussion with all our fellow expedition staff.

Preparation day for expedition

Drive to Kodari and crossing the Friendship Bridge into Tibet. Depending on how long the journey takes, we will stay in Zhangmu or Nylam. We will take time to acclimatise on the way to the base camp.

Drive to Nylam 3800 m. 6-7 hs journey

We will spend the at Nylam to acclimatise. It is the starting and ending point of the plateau where all the tree lines disappear for alpine bush and shrubs. Only a few trees survive there, like the Poplus and Willow.  
For the ones that wish, they can hike to the 11th Century Saint Milereppa Cave and its monastery just beyond the town of Nylam on the way to Laylung la pass.

On the way, we will pass over the Pang La (5000 m) which gives great views of the route and the entire North East Face of Everest. The road then descends to the foot of the Rongbuk valley and before it reaches the base camp we will stop at the Rongbuk Monastery.

We will spend this first day at the base camp acclimatisatizing and sorting out the load and gear for the following the advance camps.

We will load the yaks for the advanced base camp, which is 22 km up the valley, requiring two days of hike. There are fantastic views on the North Face of Everest if the sky is clear.  
We will make camp by the river half way, then set off early in the morning with the yaks to go the advanced base camp.

Final preparation at the Advance Base camp

21 days are reserved for the summit attempt, from the ABC we will follow the moraine towards the North Col and cross the glacier easily to its foot.  
About 300 m of fairly deep snow climbing leads to the Col at 7066 m. The Col forms a fairly wide ridge which has ample room for tents. This will be Camp I. To the south, the Col rises to become the North Ridge. This is straight-forward snow climbing, eventually steeping into rocky shelves and short buttresses.  
A second camp will be placed at around 7700 m.  
Last camp will be placed at around 8300 m.  
The final section of the climb takes in the notorious first and second steps. These are short, but abrupt rises, which will provide testing climbing at extreme altitude! It was on the second step that Mallory and Irvine were last seen before they disappeared in 1924. Once this has been ascended, the ridge leads more easily to the summit.

**Mount Everest** **(8,848m)** is a legendary mountain. And while reaching its summit is the goal of many people, I believe hiking to its famed **base camp** is an adventure all on its own.

Over the course of **16 days**, you will have the chance to hike through beautiful **Himalayan** terrain. There is so much to see during this trek that every day will be worthwhile.

The trek will start in the city of **Kathmandu**, where you will arrive, and also have a day to tour the city. Afterwards, we will take an exciting flight to **Lukla**. And from there, the trekking will begin.

With **Everest** looming above and beyond, constantly staring down, awaiting your arrival, you will see some truly amazing things. Some of the best sights include **Namche Bazaar**, several **Sherpa villages**, and the **Pangboche** and **Thyangboche monastaries**.

We will be at high altitude throughout the trek, but there will be several stays designated for **acclimatization**. However, the advantage of the altitude will be the incomparable views you will have. You will have the chance to marvel at a **panoramic view** of **Everest** from **Kala Pattar.** And you will also have the chance, throughout the hike, to admire some of the highest mountains in the world, from **Lhotse (8,516m)** to **Nuptse (7,861m)**. Finally, at the culmination of our trek, we will reach the famous **Everest Base Camp (5,362m)**.

The **Kanchenjunga mountain (8,586m)** is the third highest mountain in the world, second only to **K2 (8,611m)** and **Mount Everest (8,848m)**.

To say that **Kanchenjunga** is spectacular simply isn't enough. No words can truly express how amazing it is. However, this **29 day trek** is not about climbing to its summit. Instead, this trek is about reaching it's **North base camp** and seeing all of the wonders along the way.

Firstly, this trip is rigorous. There will be some difficult parts along the way, as we will be trekking through some of the most remote areas of the **Himalayas**. As a result, **previous mountain trekking experience is required**, as we will be crossing **rough, exposed terrain**, including some landslides. However, because of the length of this trek, you will also have plenty of time to get properly **acclimatized**.

The highlights of this trip are in abundance. There are simply too many to list. But I would like to give you an idea of some of the things you will see during this breathtaking expedition. You will see **Kathmandu**, where you will get to enjoy an **all day tour**. You will see **bamboo forests**, and the **Tibetan village of Ghunsa**, where you will get to enjoy a rest day. You will get to meet local villagers in remote areas where tourists don't go. If you are lucky, you might even get to see a **panda** or **snow leopard.** And, of course, you will get to admire the **Kanchenjunga mountain,** along with several other glorious peaks watching you from above.
