Famous for its off-piste and extreme skiing possibilities, La Meije is the ideal peak for a ski touring adventure. Join me on this 2-day program and discover the stunning slopes of this mountain in the South of France, near La Bérarde.

We will set off on our adventure from La Bérarde. From there, we will spend around 2 to 3 hours on our way to the refuge. Once we arrive, we will enjoy a replenishing picnic before spending the afternoon learning about snow and safety conditions. On the next day, we will set off a dawn towards the Breche de La Meije at an altitude of (3357 m). We will enjoy a nice coffee break before returning to the refuge and back to La Bérarde after lunch.

This exciting ski touring program is for skiers with prior experience. Additionally, you will need a good fitness level. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you every step of the way.

Climb to the Châtelleret refuge by the valley of Etançons (around 2h30).

During the afternoon we will enjoy an awareness session on snow science, ARVA, and course preparation. 

Night and dinner at the  Châtelleret refuge in charge of Gérard TURC (High Mountain Guide) and Brigitte MOREAU.

Day 1

Sunrise and breakfast around 5am.

   
Climb to the Breche de la Meije (3357 m), final walk. 

Elevation gain: 900 m. 

Negative height difference: 1500 m. 

Coffee break at the mythical Promontoire refuge(3082 m). 

Descent to the Châtelleret refuge (2232 m), picnic and packing.

Return to La Bérarde around 2pm.

Join me on this 4-day program in the spectacular **Massif des Ecrins**, in the southern Alps, and enjoy an amazing climbing experience, reaching the summit of the **Aiguille Dibona** (3131m) among other peaks.

Lying in the Hautes-Alpes and in the Isère departments, the Massif des Écrins forms the core of the Écrins National Park. It offers some great alpine climbs, with a wide variety o**f beautiful routes of all levels** and famous summits such as La Barre des Ecrins or La Meije.

During these 4 days, we will enjoy fantastic climbs, staying every night at a different mountain hut. Amazing rock, long climbs and a glacial environment in some sections make this a great mountaineering programme.

Starting from La Bérarde, the very center of Les Ecrins, we will ascend the **Chèze Pillar** (2225 m) on the first day. It is the easiest climb of our tour in the Vénéon Valley.

We will follow on the second day with the **Tête Sud du Replat ( 3428 m )**. The next day we will climb the **Pointe d’Amont** **north ridge ( 3338 m )**, and finally we will ascend to the **Aiguille Dibona summit** on the last day. Please note you need previous climbing and hiking experience (level 5+ second).

We will meet at our office in the morning for an equipment check. Climbing school. Then, we climb to the Châtelleret Hut in the afternoon, where we spend the night. Ascent: 500 m

Châtelleret Hut (2225 m)

We climb the Chèze Pillar at the Tête Sud du Replat (3428 m). Descent to the Selle Hut. Positive elevation gain: 1200 m. Negative height difference: 800 m. We spend the night at the Selle Hut (2673 m).

Today we climb the Pointe d’Amont (3338m) via the North Ridge. We descend to the Soreiller Hut( 2719m).  Altitude difference: +800 m /- 600 m.

Todday we climb to the Aiguille Dibona summit ( 3131 m ), through the South Face.  We return to the hut and then we descend to Les Etages hamlet. Transfer to Bourg d’Oisans. End of programme. Altitude difference: +400 m /-400 + 1100 m.

We invite you to join us on a 2-day glacier trek on the **Brèche de la Meije glacier** in the Écrins, staying at the **Refuge du Châtelleret.** Glacier trekking is the activity that connects hiking and the high mountain world, a key skill you need if you want to venture yourself into more challenging mountaineering trips.

The **Brèche de la Meije** (3357 m) is a glaciated high mountain pass in the **Écrins Massif**, in the Écrins National Park in Savoie. La Meije (3983m) is the second highest montain of the massif.

This glacier hiking trip is suitable for **beginner mountaineers,** however you must have a **good fitness level**, practicing a regular activity. You need to be able to walk more than four hours on high mountain terrain, carrying a light bag.

You will be tied with a rope to a guide and equipped with **crampons and ice axe**. During this tour, we will cross glaciers and passes together, to climb an easy summit or access a new refuge.

We willl be spending one night at the Chatelleret refuge, a large stone house, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. Next day we will  have lunch at the Promontoire refuge.

In the afternoon, you will meet your guide at the Châtelleret Refuge. Ascent: 400 m. Overnight at the Châtelleret refuge (2225 m).

Very early, we will departure towards the Promontoire refuge and Breche de la Meije glacier. Lunch at the Promontoire refuge. Down to La Bérarde in the afternoon. Elevation gain: 1125m. Negative altitude difference: 1557 m.

Ski touring from Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans to La Bérarde in France

Join us on this amazing 6-day hut-to-hut tour around the **Olan (3564m), a mythical mountain** at the heart of the **Écrins National Park,** in south-eastern France. This is an ideal tour for hikers looking to discover the world of high mountains while learning basic mountaineering techniques.

The Écrins National Park is a beautiful protected area, boasting enchanting valleys, high peaks, alpine pastures, woodlands and lakes. During these days you will discover the pristine natural beauty of this region in France.

We will start from **La Bérarde**, a remote hamlet of **Oisans and Vénéon**, an historical mountaineering place at the foot of La Meije and Olan. Then we will hike through Valgaudemar via the Gioberney pass and return to Oisans via the Olan breach, at an altitude of 2970 meters. On these alpine passages, a high-mountain guide will assist us.

You will rewarded with plenty of time to enjoy beautiful views, contemplating unique landscapes, hiking on high mountains and practicing easy mountaineering techniques during six days. **You can check the day-by-day itinerary below.**

This is an **intermediate level hiking tour**, although you need some previous experience on high altitude trekking. Join us and prepare yourself for a smooth transition between hiking to mountaineering!

Meeting at 10H00 at La Meije Inn La Bérarde. This stage takes us through the right bank of the Vénéon river before passing to the left bank, at the bottom of the valley, for the final climb towards La Pilatte hut, where we spend the night.

La Bérarde (1700m) - La Pilatte Refuge  (2577m) (10 km with 900m +, 4 hours of walking)

On this alpine stage we will travers the Gioberney pass at 3238 m. Night at the Pigeonnier refuge.

La Pilatte Refuge (2577m) - Dovecote Refuge (2425m) - Refuge des Souffles (1984m)(7 kms / 950m+ /1200m - / 6H00)  

We descend to the the Gioberney chalet hotel where a taxi will lead us to La Chapelle en Valgaudemar. From the Chapel, we will pass the Col des Colombes at an altitude of 2400 m, along  the Lautier Lake, before we pass the Col de Clochettes (2183 m) to reach the Refuge des Souffles. The walk will take variants of the GR 54, Grand Tour des Ecrins or Tour de l’Oisans. Night at the Refuge des Souffles.

Dovecote Refuge (2425m) - Refuge des Souffles (1984m) (14 km /1400m+ / 1300- / 6H00)

This stage follows exclusivley the  the GR 54 route and will be embellished with the passage of the Col de la Vaurze, before beginning a descent in Lauzes. Overnight at a gîte at the Desert in Valjouffrey.

The hike will follow the old  Charmettes channel staying, at the left bank of the Bonne. Night at Font Turbat Refuge.

Today we will pass the Olan breach  (2970m) with a mountain guide. A long descent in the Muande valley  will lead us to Champhorent via La Lavey refuge. A shuttle will take us back to La Bérarde to pick up our cars. End of our hiking tour!

Font Turbat Hut (1984m) – Champhorent  (1600m) (13 kms /1000m+ /1500m- / 6H30)

Join us on the Tour de l’Oisans, an authentic must ski mountaineering experience on **La Meije**, in the **Écrins Massif**. For 3 days we will be having fun, skiing on challenging slopes, surrounded by impressive alpine landscapes.

We will take you on incredible ski tours to our secret spots in the Écrins. You will be carrying a light backpack and we will be staying at mountain huts for the night.  We will sleep in two mythical refuges of the Écrins: the **Promontoire** **Refuge** (3082m) and the **Refuge de l’Aigle** (3450m).

Our deep knowledge of the massif ensures you will enjoy a unique and demanding ski touring adventure! Please note this trip is only suitable for people with previous ski touring experience. You also need previous experience on high-mountain glacial terrain and on the use of crampons.

We will meet at the Bourg d’Oisans bus station, and from St Christophe and La Berarde, we will ascend to the Selle Hut. Next day we will cross the Col du Replat and climb the Glacier de la Selle, descending by the **Gandolière glacier** to the Châtelleret Refuge. Finally on the third day we will return to la Bérarde through the **Brèche de la Meije**.
