This program offers you the possibility to **summit two amazing and non-technical peaks in Patagonia, Mt. Vespignani and Mt. Gorra Blanca**, giving you the best views of El Chaltén area!

Mt. Vespigniani is in Lago del desierto area, around 40km away from El Chalten Village. Surrounded by glaciers, this summit offers amazing views of both Argentinean and Chilenean sides.

Gorra Blanca Mountain is a bit harder, and done in 4 days. It is located in the Southern Patagonia Icefield and will give you the chance to both step and enjoy the 3rd biggest mass of ice on earth!

**Itinerary:**

DAY 1. El Calafate. Transport to el Chalten. Meeting with the guide. Hostel included. **Note:** Book a flight that arrives no later than 4pm.

DAY 2. Transport to Lago del desierto. Vespigniani Summit.

DAY 3. Resting and extra Bad weather day.

DAY 4. Transport to Electrico River. La Playita Camp.

DAY 5. La Playita – Paso Marconi.

It’s important to take into account, that the weather in El Chalten is very unstable. This expedition counts with two extra days to improve the odds of success. Waiting, continuing, or suspending decision will be on our Mountain Guide criteria.

##### Cerro Torre and its 3.133 meters are unmistakable in the eyes of any mountaineer.

The **Cerro Torre** is located in the East of the South Patagonia Ice Field, just in the border between Argentina and Chile. **Los Glaciares Nationa Park** and the **Patagonian Ice Field** are two of the best places of the world for ice mountaineering.

And that’s what I offering you: a 3-day trip hiking on glacial soil. **By the end of the trip we will reach to Fitz Roy Massif and Cerro Torre.**

If you want to be part of the team I’m going to lead, you need:

*   You will also need good physical shape
    

This **3-day expedition to Cerro Torre** starts in El Chaltén, Santa Cruz province. Here you have the complete itinerary:

**DAY 1: STARTING POIN EL CHALTEN – NIPONINO**

Once we have our equipment checked we’ll move towards the trail-head and walk for more than 2 hours up to Fitz Roy River. We will cross it by a zip line. And here comes a moraine and forest land until we put our crampons on and start hiking through pure glacier.

By the end of the day, we’ll be finally in our first base camp known as Niponino, where we will dinner and spend the night.

**DAY 2: CERRO TORRE BASE CAMP**

A magic day of hike among the two giants: on the left Cerro Torre, on the right Mount Fitz Roy. Wherever you look, you will find an ice wall. This day will consists in 5-to-7 hours of intense walk up to the base camp of Cerro Torre.

**DAY 3: NIPONINO- BACK TO EL CHALTEN.**

Last day of this amazing trip. We’ll disarm our camp and start the return to El Chalten. The way back is really nice. We will hike through the Grande Glacier until we are in the city of El Chaltén.

El Chalten is a beautiful village in the Argentinean Patagonia, in the Santa Cruz Province. Surrounded by impressive peaks and deep-blue glacial lakes, **this area is known as Argentina’s trekking capital.**

The Huemul Circuit starts near El Chalten town and traverses around Mount Huemul. It is one of the most popular treks in the región. On this hiking adventure, **we will cross different types of terrains -snow, glaciers and moraines- with a rich and varied flora and fauna!**

**DAY 1: El Chaltén – Patagonia Eco Domes Lodge**

We will meet in El Chaltén and we will stay at the lodge Patagonia Eco Domes. It is a very nice place to relax and includes rooms with private bathroom, dinner and breakfast.

Although it has no connection with cell phones and WiFi, it is connected with nature. That’s the idea of an Eco trip… You will love it!

**DAY 2: Laguna de los Tres – Patagonia Eco Domes Lodge**

Today we will walk for about 7 hours. We’ll start the hike early in the morning across the Piedras Blancas Glacier. From there, we can enjoy amazing views of the Laguna de los Tres and Fitz Roy. We return to the lodge to taste a delicious dinner.

**DAY 3: Laguna Madre e hija – Laguna Torre – El Chaltén**

In our last day we will hike to Laguna Madre e Hija, having an great view of Laguna Torre and its glacier. Once in there, a transfer will take us back to El Chalten (your luggage will be taken in advance). You’ll pick up your things and end of our services.

Remember it is a trip suitable for well trained people although it has no technical difficulty.

The province of Santa Cruz, very southerly Argentina, proposes the incredible **Paso del Viento trek** with its starting point in El Chaltén.

##### The Paso del Viento trek is a challenging hike that will lead us to a viewpoint from where we admire:

*   The amazing Patagonian Ice Field
    
*   Viedma Glacier
    
*   Uspala Glacier
    
*   Cord of Mariano Moreno as background
    

It will be an expedition of intermediate-moderate level that will last only 3 days. Although it is not necessary to have previous experience, you must count on well physical training because the trip includes intense walks.

**DAY 1: MEETING POINT**

We will meet in El Chalten. We’ll have a group talk about next goals and sleep in an accommodation in the city (included in the price).

**DAY 2: TORO CAMP**

Once we have the technical gear checked, we start the hike towards the Toro Lake, where we will reach by midday. We’ll set up the camp and sleep in there (6 hours of total walk)

**DAY 3: PASO DE VIENTO**

We leave our base camp behind towards the Tunel River. Once in there, we can border it along or may cross it with the help of harnesses and cables. Then, we’ll keep ascending by moraines paths until we are finally in **Paso del Viento viewpoint**. After marveling our eyes with so incredible view, we’ll return to the base camp in Toro Lake (total walking time: 6-7 hours – Altitude change: 900-400 meters)

When we reach Toro camp we will go back to El Chaltén across an incredible route in Tunel River Valley. On the way we will enjoy many interesting views, such as **Viedma Lake** and the **Masiff Fitz Roy**.

Once in El Chalten, a goodbye dinner will be waiting in order to close this amazing expedition!

The **Paso del Viento trek can be done from October to April** and the minimum group-size is 2 people.

##### Paso del Viento is an unmissable point of the South Patagonian Ice Field.

During this expedition we will walk on glacial ground until we reach **Paso del Viento**, from where we will admire one of the best viewpoint of the region.

It will be a 6-day trip of pure hiking that starts crossing the Pass of Las Agochonas up to Laguna Toro. This trail will lead us directly to **Paso del Viento**, a place that seems like a dream.

**DAY 1: El Chaltén – Niponino**

Once we meet each other and check our backpacks, we start the route towards Fitz Roy River. We will cross it by zip line. Then, we’ll enter in a glacial ground that we’ll overcome using crampons.

After more than 5 hours, we are finally in our base camp where we dinner and rest: Niponino.

**DAY 2: Cerro Torre base camp**

After breakfast we start waking among **Monte Fitz Roy** and **Cerro Torre**. During all this day we will hike surrounded by huge ice walls. It will be awesome! Total walking time of this day: 5-7 hours.

**DAY 3: Niponino- Torre Laguna Camp**

When we return to Niponino, we start a new hike of about 9 hours up to the base camp of Laguna Torre. A total altitude change of 500 meters for today.

**DAY 4: Las Agachonas Pass – Laguna Toro Camp**

We leave Laguna Torre base camp early in the morning. We will walk intensely to Las Agachonas Pass. After 8 hours we will be at Laguna Toro base camp, a beautiful place to set up tents and spend the night.

**DAY 5: Paso del Viento**

A great day awaits us. We’ll gain an altitude of 800 meters to reach Paso del Viento. From there, we will have one of the best views of all the Patagonian Ice Field. Then, we return to Laguna Toro camp to rest.

**DAY 6: Laguna Toro – El Chaltén**

Last day! We leave Laguna Toro behind and move to El Chalten by the same route.

Of course, it will be necessary counting on previous mountain experience and knowing how to use crampons. As you can see, there are several walking hours per day, so good physical shape is also an excluding condition.

##### In The Ice capped field of Patagonia, the most important glaciers of the region are born. And the Paso Marconi let us enter into such amazing landscapes. Are you coming?

During this trip across **Paso Marconi** you will delight your eyes with the massifs around. And your feet will also be pleased of treading virgin snow.

This ice field is a huge completely frozen surface located between Chilean and Argentina borders. Its extension is only surpassed in the world by Greenland and Antarctica.

You won’t need any technical skill and we give your all the equipment to overcome the harder surfaces. The only requirement is to have a good physical shape because backpacks will be very heavy.  Even in this case you should not worry because you will have the option to hire a porter.

Then, you can see the itinerary of this **Paso Marconi 3-day ice expedition:**

**DAY 1: LA PLAYITA**

We will meet in El Chaltén and after checking the equipment we will move to the Electrico River. From there, we will walk to the camp of Piedra del Fraile in where we will rest for a while. After 6 hours of total hike we are finally in our camp in La Playita.

**DAY 2: PASO MARCONI**

It is the most important day of the trip. **We will ascend to the famous Marconi Glacier through a challenging ice route.** You will need crampons at first. Then, we have to add harnesses and ropes. When the positive vertical slope finally ends, we will be in front of an amazing viewpoint: the cordons of Kólliker, Gea, Mariano Moreno and the Lautaro Volcano! Return to La Playita base camp.

**DAY 3: LA PLAYITA – EL CHALTEN**

We will go back to our starting point by the same route until we are in the Electrico River crossing again. Breakfast and dinner included.

##### It will be an incredible trip in which you will walk on the Patagonia ice field and reach Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.

The **Patagonia Ice field** is one of the largest frozen surfaces of the entire world, after Antarctica and Greenland.

If you want to participate of this **Patagonia Ice field expedition** you must have previous hiking experience. Physical shape is also a needed because you will carry your own 15-kg backpack.

The estimate duration of the trip is 8 days but I will add 2 extra days is case of bad weather. The true is that Patagonia region has a very unstable climate. I will decide the dynamic of the trip according to those variables.

**DAY 1: CHALTEN AND TRAILHEAD**

We will meet in El Chalten where we will start the hike towards Electrico River. Once we cross it, we keep hiking up to La Playita. Total walking time: 7 hours. Lunch and dinner included.

**DAY 2: PASO MARCONI**

We will walk from La Playita to Paso Marconi. This day we will hike about 10 hours and we’ll gain an altitude of 1.000 meters. Included breakfast, lunch and dinner.

**DAY 3: CERRO GORRA BLANCA OR EXTRA DAY**

If weather is ok we will climb up to 2.900 meters to Gorra Blanca Hill. Then we’ll go back to Paso Marconi. In case climate won’t help it will be an extra day.

**DAY 4: CIRCO DE LOS ALTARES**

A new hiking day starts from Paso Marcone to Circo de los Antares. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

**DAY 5: LAGUNA DE FERRARI**

Another day to walk towards the amazing Laguna de Ferrari. The same meals of yesterday included.

**DAY 6: TORO CAMP**

Once we reach Laguna Toro, we set up our base camp in there. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included too.

**DAY 7: RETURN TO EL CHALTEN**

Once we are again in El Chalten, we will enjoy a deserved good-bye dinner. Personal drinks are not included.

**DAY 8: ANOTHER EXTRA DAY**

It will be the second extra day in case of bad weather. If it is a spare day, we can practice other activities.
