**I will take you on yet another adventure in Tierra del Fuego. Join me on this amazing day hike where we’ll take an off-the-beaten-track to Laguna Esmeralda which is a unique alternative to the popular and sometimes really busy trail.**

The trip is ideal for those wishing to discover this unexplored place without losing the feeling of being at the end of the world. You will traverse a spectacular landscape, **crossing the Fuegian forest, vast peat bogs, and dams built by beavers.** The trail leads through **large valleys with spectacular views of the Andes.**

We’ll begin from the city of Ushuaia and head towards the starting point of the trek. After walking for about 2 hours, you will be able to see the lake located at the foot of the **Albino glacier**. We’ll have our lunch at this beautiful setting alongside taking in the stunning vistas of the lake and the neighboring peaks.

On the way back we’ll follow another track that borders the river from the lake down to a valley. Here, you will discover the typical vegetation of Patagonia- **Bolax Gummifera and** _**mata negra**_.

**Join us on this 3-day trip to the solitary coast of the Beagle Channel to see San Pio lighthouse, the southernmost lighthouse in the world.**

Located in the beautiful province of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, in the southern tip of South America, this lighthouse is definitely worth visiting. The **approach along the edge of Peninsula Mitre is stunning.** The **steep cliffs and the long beaches** in the region hold the stories of **the local indigenous tribes that once inhabited the land and of ancient sailors that explored it.**

We’ll begin our trip by taking a road trip through the **beautiful valleys of the Fuegian Andes**. We will drive along the banks of the Beagle Channel until we reach Estancia Moat, the starting point of the trek. As you begin to hike on the secluded banks, you’ll spot just a few travelers and a gaucho or two gathering cattle. After a good hike of about 5 hours, you will reach the campsite near Casa Vieja, a former Gauchos post to enjoy a night in Patagonia.

On the next day, we will begin our hike to the lighthouse. We will walk along beautiful beaches and reach the lighthouse where we will catch some stunning views.  Additionally, we might also **spot a few sea lions** relaxing on the beach. On the last day of our adventure, we’ll head back to Moat and finally to Ushuaia to end this incredible trip.

First, we’ll drive for 2 hours through the beautiful valleys of the Fuegian Andes, along the banks of the Beagle Channel to reach Estancia Moat. Next, we’ll hike on unexplored banks for about 5 hours to reach the campsite near Casa Vieja.

After a delicious breakfast, we will continue hiking past gorgeous beaches where we’ll see many birds including the Andean condors. We’ll arrive at the lighthouse by afternoon and enjoy a magical view. Finally, we’ll return to the campsite to enjoy another peaceful night.

We’ll begin from the remote town of Ushuaia, capital of  Tierra del Fuego. The first two days we’ll head towards Estancia Moat and to see the southernmost lighthouse in the world. The bay is a gateway to Peninsula Mitre and is emblematic of the Fuegian Gold Rush. The trail leads through **a lush forest, further onto the calm banks of the Beagle Chanel where you will also catch a glimpse of the history and lifestyle of Patagonian and Fuegian tribes.** We’ll hike on rocky terrain, encountering some wild horses and other cattle on the way as well as local gauchos.

At the top of the cliff lies the camp of 75 years old Ramon, one of the last gold seekers in the region. Additionally, we will catch sight of an abandoned golden dredge, a refuge and remains of the huts of gold diggers. We will have dinner either in the tent or in a shelter and sleep cradled by the sound of waves.

From Puesto Ibara to Slogett Bay

We will rest in Slogett and enjoy the morning there. After having a traditional _picada_ which includes cheese, charcuterie, eggplant, and bread, we will head to the Rio de la Vaca cove to set up camp.

Another beautiful day of walking before returning to civilization! We’ll return to Estancia Moat and its small prefecture where you will have the chance to visit the post and meet the military people living there.

This demanding and beautiful trek in the Fuegian Andes will take you to discover off-the-beaten-path forests, glaciers, and lakes over the course of 2 days.

We will set off from Ushuaia and walk in all kinds of terrains: wetland, grassland, peat bog, forest, scree, and mountains. This trek is an unconventional tour, completely off of the regular trails, that will allow you to experience the vibrant nature of Tierra del Fuego. The gorgeous blue Kami lagoon will be one of the highlights of this trek, as will the stunning Beban Glacier. You can find a detailed itinerary below.

Keep in mind that you will need an excellent fitness level to join this adventure as we will be trekking for up to 8 hours days with more than 800 meters of altitude gain. At times, you will need to use your hands and also be ready for some rich, dark mud and rainy or very cold weather. It will be well worth it!

We will set off from Ushuaia and drive to the trailhead on road national 3 ( 20 minutes).

Then, we will start trekking in the forest and valleys following a trail to quickly steer away from the trail. Out of treeline, we will begin to go up. The hike will be more and more challenging as we leave the vegetation limit until we finish in a couloir going down to a first lake.

After, we will get to Kami lake, and discover a peatland valley, and a glacier. We will camp a few meters from the lake and enjoy the solitude of this amazing landscape.

We will set off early in the morning sourrounding the lake to reach a col and go down another steep couloir.

At the end of it, we will be in front of Beban Glacier. We will continue along a river crossing beaver dams to end back in the forest.

This expedition is an amazing adventure in southernmost Patagonia. Peninsula Mitre has stunning landscapes, wildlife, and a unique story of golddiggers and pioneers. On this 10-day adventure, we will explore this remote region and get to sail back to Ushuaia through the awe-inspiring Beagle Channel.

Peninsula Mitre is about to be declared a protected area. It is a pristine and unique area of the world dotted with mountain ranges, forests, peatland, rocks, and sand beaches. Due to its ecosystems, climate and remoteness, it is one of the only places on Earth where nature is intact.

On this adventure, we will trek through a wide variety of terrains, cross rivers, and camp in unique sites. We will hike without following any trail and then sail back through the mythical Beagle Channel. You can find a detailed day-by-day description of the itinerary below.

On average, we will trek between 10 to 15 km per day. However, the type of terrain will vary greatly.  Since we won’t be following a trail, you should expect a lot of variation and up and down trekking. In order to participate, you should be able to walk 8 hours per day and have experience with multi-day treks.

We begin to get used to small river crossings, walking on stones beaches, and wetlands.

Trekking following a river and the coastline, a variety of terrain. When we arrive at Sloggett bay, we will visit the last century Gold dredger.

Then, we will have to cross the Lopez River, which is the geographic limit of Mitre Peninsula.

Once we cross this river we really enter into the wild.

From Sloggett to Playa Dorada, we will head away from the trails and camp on the most beautiful beach of Tierra del Fuego with its golden sand.

From Playa Dorada to Playa Paraiso, the best camp site you can dream off with river, sea, grass, sunset, and a great bonfire after a challenging day of trekking.

We will have to pass a mountain to arrive at the Beautiful Aguirre Bay. You will discover its amazing human history while walking and enjoying great views. Here we will spend 2 days resting and enjoying a true lifestyle, making homemade bread, connecting with nature and animals visiting us, and enjoying the feeling of freedom at this magic site.

We will head back to Ushuaia sailing in the Beagle Channel, probably followed by dolphins. It is a great moment to watch birds and look for penguins or sea lions jumping in the water.
