This 1-day Asahikawa area backcountry tour in Hokkaido is a great chance to ski some of the best powder in the world!
The Asahikawa ski area is only one hour away from the Asahikawa airport and even closer to the city. Because it is located in the coldest part of Hokkaido, you’ll find the lightest powder on the island here!
These severe winter conditions require us to be well prepared and it’s better to know the area to find the best spots. I will take you to the best backcountry slopes on these mountains.
There are many possible itineraries to choose from: Asahi-dake, Kuro-dake, Furano-dake, Sanpou-zan, Mae-Tokachi-dake and the back side of Daisetsu-zan are some of the options.
This adventure will start at 8 am, when I’ll pick you up from your hotel. We’ll drive to our chosen spot and we’ll spend approximately 5 hours hiking and skiing. You’ll be back at the hotel by 4 pm.
I’ll be happy to guide you on this 1-day Asahikawa area backcountry tour in Hokkaido. Let’s embark on this amazing ski touring project together!
And if you’re planning to visit Japan during the summer, please check out my 1 Day Shower Climbing Adventure in Suzuka Mountains.

What happens if I need to cancel the trip?
If you decide to cancel, you’ll get a 100% refund (minus fees) if the cancellation is notified up to 60 days before the start of the tour, a 75% refund (minus fees) if you cancel between 59 and 30 days before the start of the tour, and a 50% refund if you cancel between 29 and 21 days before the start of the tour. If you cancel less than 21 days before the first day of the tour, you won’t receive a refund. Take into account, however, that if accommodation, flights or transfers were included in the trip you booked, then a different policy may apply as the guide will be bound by the provider’s cancellation policy.
What happens if the guide cancels the trip because of bad weather/unsuitable conditions?
If bad weather or unsuitable conditions force the guide to cancel the trip, he or she will: a) propose a similar activity at a different place where conditions are better, or b) propose to postpone the activity until a later date, or c) cancel. If you refuse option a), our cancellation policy will apply. Please note, however, that the call to cancel a trip due to bad weather can only be made by the guide (not the client).
What happens if the guide doesn’t show up or cancels for personal reasons?
If the guide cancels for reason of injury or other, you will get a 100% refund on your trip.
About the Guide
I am a JMGA certified mountain and ski / snowboarding guide. I was born in Shiga prefecture, where I still live, and have been snowboarding since 1999. I’ve been a backcountry guide since 2007
My passion is travelling and backcountry snowboarding. My guiding style is to travel to snowboard, and during the winter season, I travel from Hokkaido to Western Japan (Gifu) chasing the snow with my clients.
I am not a pro snowboarder that decorates the front page of free ride magazines nor am I a super climber on high peaks abroad, but my speciality is to understand what clients seek and to guide accordingly.
My slogan is “To guide with maximum effort! Enjoy with clients! And by all means, safely!!”
Please join me to have fun in the backcountry fields all over Japan!
