With 5,592 meters of altitude, Lascar Volcano is a stratovolcano located near San Pedro de Atacama, in the Antofagasta region of Chile.
Our tour will start at 5 in the morning. After 3 hours, we’ll reach the LejÃa Lake and enjoy breakfast. This is one of the salt lakes from The Altiplano and it is located at 4,325 meters above sea level. Then we’ll get to the base of the mountain, at 4,900 meters. It will take us around 4 to 5 hours to reach the summit of the Lascar Volcano. Afterwards, we’ll return and finish our trip at 18 p.m.
This ascent is technically easy. Although special equipment is not necessary, I recommend you to bring trekking boots. If you are planning to take this trip during the winter, to bring your low temperatures equipment will be important.

About lead guide, Christian Fernandez:
I’m originally from Argentina, but live in Chile since 1998. Now I’m settled in the north of Chile, in San Pedro de Atacama, beautiful town in the heart of the Andean section of the dry Atacama dessert.
From there I organize many expeditions to beautiful peaks on a weekly basis. I’ve done more than 300 high altitude ascents, and more than 25 peaks over 6000 metres.
I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
