Description

The Dent du Géant (4013 m) is an impressive mountain in the Mont Blanc massif, in the Western Alps. It lies near the border between France and Italy.

The Dent du Géant (the giant’s tooth), with its 200 meter high granite spire, has in fact a very particular shape. Actually, it’s easy to see this steep rockpillar from everywhere in the central Mont Blanc region.

The mountain has 2 summits, 27 meters apart, separated by a small col: Pointe Sella (4009 m), via the south-west face, and Pointe Graham (4013 m), the north-east summit.

Climbing this peak is truly an exciting adventure! From the Aosta Valley in Italy**, this is essentially a 2-day climb, with a hut stay prior to the ascent**. We will spend the night at the Torino Hut. Next day, we traverse a short route on the glacier. Then, we cross the fantastic ridge line on mixed terrain and finally we climb the rocky monolith!

The best time for climbing the Dent du Géant is from mid-June till mid-September. If you want to climb this mountain, you need to be in good physical shape. Also, you must have some experience walking with crampons on mixed and sometimes exposed terrain.

So send me a request if you want to join me on this climb to the impressive Dent du Géant. It will be an unforgettable adventure!

We did a 1 day Ferrata with Marica. We've both never climbed a Ferrata before but we are both good hikers. We enjoyed our trip very much and you don't need to be a climber. Marica took good care of us and she is very informative with the local geography and history. We felt very safe with her. If you are traveling near the Dolomite and want to try something a bit out of your comfort zone, I highly recommend doing a ferrata especially with Marica. We did both ferrata ra gusela nuvolau and ferrata-averau. It took us about 6 hours.
