Welcome to the Rossland ski area of British Columbia, Canada. Deep powder snow, wild and beautiful terrain and a fun group dynamic combine to create one of the best trips around!
Situated about 1 hours drive southwest of Nelson, this area includes the Red mountain Ski Resort, which is famous for its deep powder snow, great terrain and stunning vistas.
Part of the Selkirk mountains which are themselves part of the greater Columbia Mountain range, Rossland takes shape as a spectacular alpine setting of forests, lakes and glaciers.
There is great lift and road access to backcountry powder of the highest quality and with about 12 meters of fresh snow anually, you’ll be in the thick of it!
You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to interesting terrain, you’ll find a nice mix of open tree skiing, alpine bowls and steeps.
There is also the possibility of taking tours up the various ridges and peaks that surround you in this gorgeous landscape. Some of your options include; Record Ridge, Whitewolf Ridge, Mount Roberts and Kirkup.
Regardless of whether you are a beginner or an advanced skier, I can adapt the day’s itinerary to match your ability and preferences.
The backcountry skiing around Rossland covers an expansive area but with small groups I can keep a close eye on everyone throughout the exploration!
I will also include information and teachings on avalanche safety so that you can improve your awareness and knowledge of this important aspect of backcountry skiing.
