Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from GuideSource will transfer you to your hotel. After a short trip briefing you will have the rest of the day off. Overnight at Hotel B/B.
We will start the day with some sightseeing at some of the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square. Landmarks we will visit include the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ Swayambhu Nath and the Bouddha Nath Buddhist shrine . You can also make any last minute purchases of personal items and prepare for the next day.
Overnight at Hotel B/B.
After breakfast, we will drive out along the north-western hills of Kathmandu where you can enjoy the Himalayan views and mountain lifestyle of terraced fields and rustic villages. After, we will stop for lunch at the Trishuli Bazar before continuing further to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we will descend to Syabru Besi. Overnight at Hotel.
After breakfast, we will cross over to the bank of the Langtang river and start out on the trail through a thick forest filled with oak, pine and bamboo trees. We may spot some wildlife such as the local monkeys, wild boar and if we are lucky, the Himalayan black bear or the endangered red panda.
The route hugs the river bank for 2 hours before starting a gentle 6 hour ascent to Lama hotel. The Lama hotel is located on the bank of the river so we will fall asleep to the sound of rushing water. Overnight at Lodge.
We will leave Lama Hotel and continue to gain altitude while walking through wonderful mountain scenery with the flowing river and surrounding waterfalls nearby. As we reach the green meadows of Ghora Tabela, the snowy white peaks of the Langtang range will come into view.
After walking for about 3 hours we will reach Langtang village, which is the headquarters of Langtang National Park. The village’s water-driven mills, flat-roofed Tibetan style houses and prayer wheels have a unique charm. Then, once settled in the guesthouse, you can take some time to explore the village and the local yak cheese factory. Overnight at Lodge.
After an early wake up call, we will continue down Langtang valley for about 4 hours and pass tiny ethnic Tibetan villages and past yaks and horses grazing in terraced fields until we reach Kyangjin Gompa.
Kyangjin Gompa is situated on a small plain surrounded by the snowy peaks of the Langtang Range – Dorje Larpa (6990m), Langtang Ri (6370 m), Langtang Lirung (7245 m) and Yala Peak (5520 m). It also has a monastery, a government run cheese factory (built with Swiss assistance) and a few houses and lodges. Due to its high altitude, Kyangjin Gompa is not occupied in winter, but during trekking season it provides a welcoming sight far into Langtang valley.
Overnight at Lodge.
On our 7th day of our Langtang Valley trek you can either choose to rest and visit the nearby monastery and cheese factory or climb the nearby Tserko Ri.
Situated at 5050m, Tserko Ri is a steep climb from Kyangjin Gompa that takes about two hours. However, the spectacular mountain views available of the surrounding peaks and up and down the Langtang valley offer a generous reward. This is the pinnacle of the Langtang trek and energy permitting, the ascent of Tserko Ri should definitely be undertaken so that you can take in Langtang’s snowcapped mountain range in all its glory.Overnight at Lodge.
After breakfast, we will descend down to lama hotel through the Langtang village. The trail follows a nice descent that will give us the chance to gain a lot of ground quickly while at the same time allowing ample time for rest and lunch. Following the Langtang river, we will pass through Ghora Tabela. Finally, we will descend to Lama Hotel. Overnight at Lodge.
For variation, we will follow the so called ‘high’-route back to Syabru Besi. This trail splits from the route we took upwards shortly after leaving Lama Hotel. The route goes to the small village of Syarpagaon, and continues onto Bhanjyanggaon and Khangjung before descending back to Syabru Besi in around 6 hours. This was the primary route to Langtang before the new trail (which we will have followed on our way up) was built.
After breakfast we will drive to Kathmandu around 8 hours and transfer you to your hotel.
After a fun packed journey you will have a full day at leisure on your own. Otherwise, if you wish to extend your trip with us for an additional fee, we can organize to explore the Thamel for one last day shopping and evening farewell dinner.
Overnight at Hotel /B.
GuideSource will transfer you to the International Airport for departure flight.

Our guide Dr Flemming was excellent. He went above and beyond what we expected. We felt very safe and well trained to practice our climbing. Location was perfect and even though rain had been forecasted, they worked with us to make sure we could climb safely.
