Description

The region of Helambu in Nepal is located 80 kilometers from Kathmandu. It is known due to its Buddhist monasteries and its trekking routes. It is a beautiful area surrounded by the most incredible culture and nature. Enjoy walking around it on this 12-day trek in Nepal.

This trip starts in Kathmandu, the capital and biggest city in the country. Participants will have the chance to visit the main points of interests of this city. Some of the places that you will visit are the cultural and religious center of Swayambhunath, Durbar Square, the Boudhanath stupa, and the Pashupatinath temple, among others.

During the tour, we’ll hike across the different villages in the Helambu region and discover the culture of the Tibetan and Sherpa people. We’ll be able to enjoy the sight of the Langtang massif and the Himalayan mountain range on our trekkings.

To join this trip, it is a requirement for participants to have prior mountaineering experience and a good level of fitness.

Itinerary

Day 1 to 2: Arrival

Flight to Kathmandu. Accommodation and dinner in the hotel.

Day 3: Talamarang - Kakani

On day 3, we’ll drive to Talamarang (960 meters). Then we’ll start a 4 to 5-hour walk to Kakani (1,950 meters). We’ll spend the night in the lodge.

Day 4: Tarkeghyang

On this day, we’ll reach the Sermathang village (2,693 meters) and then Ghyangyul (3,183 meters). Afterwards, we’ll descend to Tarkeghyang (2,550 meters), the biggest village in Helambu. This trek will take us around 7 hours. Night in the lodge.

Day 5: Tarkeghyang or Yangri Peak

Two options for this day. We can visit the Tarkeghyang village or ascend the Yangri Peak (3,771 meters). Night in the lodge.

Day 6 to 8: Chisopani

We’ll go through beautiful woods and mountain passes until we reach Chisopani (2,220 meters). Our walks will be from 5 to 7 hours. We’ll contemplate incredible sights of the Himalayas.

Day 9: Sundaryal

On day 9, we’ll walk for 2 to 3 hours and visit Mulkharka (1,900 meters). Then we’ll get to Sundaryal (1,460 meters), where we’ll enjoy lunch. We’ll transfer you to Kathmandu and spend the night in a hotel.

Day 10 to 11: Kathmandu

We’ll spend these days discovering the city. Night in the hotel.

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast, flight to return.

I come from Marseille and I found my passion for mountaineering very early, climbing Les Calanques, some mountains in the Verdon region and in the Alps. I got my IFMGA (mountain guide) certificate in 1983 and my ski instructor license in 1985.
I brought my clients on many summits of the Alps and went abroad to discover the world. I went skiing, climbing, mountaineering… in Morocco, Norway, Algeria (Hoggar), Yosemite (El Capitan) and Nepal. I discovered this passion for travelling and started to organize my first trips with my clients. In the late 80’, I went to the Annapurna Sanctuary and I did several ascents in Peru (Pisco, Yanapatcha and Huascaran). In the 90’, I did several trips in Nepal (Helambu, Langtang…).
I then kept on and further explored the world with my clients: Rolwaling traverse (Perchamo, Mera Peak Mingbo La), the summits of Yala Peak and the Yana Kanga, Patagonia (in Argentina), Manaslu tour in Nepal, Meso Kanto La, Mustang, Atacama desert in chili and many others.
I like bringing my clients mountaineering in summer and ski touring / heliskiing in winter.
