Description

During this trek you will cherish the white immensity of the Peruvian mountains, where lies a peak regarded as ‘the most beautiful mountain in the world’: Alpamayo Mountain.

Alpamayo (5947 m) is one of the most visible and attractive peaks in the western branch of the Cordillera Blanca —a mountain range which is part of the Peruvian Andes— and is situated within the Huascarán National Park.

On this 19-day guided trek we’ll reach altitudes higher than 4000 m, so acclimatization will be very important. In order to gain height gradually, we’ll spend the first days of the trip hiking along different peaks surrounded by extraordinary landscapes. From the Cordillera Negra Wilcacocha (3800 meters), for example, you will appreciate almost the entire Cordillera Blanca.

Our trekking tour begins in the town of Hualcayán. You will first pass the lagoons of Yanacocha and Azulcocha and appreciate a spectacular view of Santa Cruz Mountain (6259 meters) from the beautiful Cullicocha lagoon.

During this trip you will also enjoy a great sunset at Cañon del Pato, where the Cordillera Blanca and Negra meet, and see the Andean cereal crops: kiwicha and quinoa.

For further details, you can find the complete itinerary below this description.

Dare to trek around the most beautiful mountain in the world and enjoy the unforgettable views that nature gives us. Request to book this trip! I’ll be glad to have you in this exciting adventure.

Mountain Guide

IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain Guide from Perú, based in Huaraz, Cordillera Blanca.

I like mountaineering and skiing. I recently completed the ski certification in Argentina, so I'm one of the few fully IFMGA certified guides in Peru. I've also guided in Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina and the Alps.

Some of my favourite trips are climbing in the Dolomites, Fitz Roy in El Chalten, and mountain biking across Peru, Bolivia and Chile.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
