You always wanted to summit a mountain in Ecuador? So come join me on my next adventure to Carihuairazo (5,018 meters) during 2 fantastic days!
Carihuairazo is located in the center of Ecuador, near Chimborazo. Indigenous legend says that Carihuairazo and the Altar mountains lost a romantic battle over Tungurahua to the mountain, Chimborazo. For this reason, Carihuairazo and Altar mountains were destroyed and such is the explanation from their shape and form. Moreover, Carihuairazo’s name is derived from the indigenous language of Quichua, the roots of the word relating to man, snow and wind. It seems appropriate for the expedition, as you will have to climb through wind and snow depending on the weather.
We will begin this trip with a transfer to our base where an indigenous community resides. We will enjoy a good dinner there and rest for a bit, as we will begin our summit at around 4 a.m, when the conditions are optimal. As we ascend to 5,000 meters, you will get to experience the magic of the mountaintop as the sun is rising overhead. Once at the top, you will be delighted by the breathtaking views of the surrounding Andean mountains.
This trip is great for those of you who are of an intermediate level of climbing, and have not yet summited a mountain over 5,000 meters. Moreover, this trip can be organized for individuals and groups, and the price varies depending on group size, so this could be a great opportunity to do something active with friends!
Request to book this trip if you have always wanted to summit a mountain in the Ecuadorian Andes!
We will pick you up in the morning at one of our designated pick up points. Then we will drive to an Indian community (approx. 4.000 m / 13,123 ft), where we will spend the night. After an early dinner, we will rest.
We will start the summit to Carihuairazo around 4 a.m. and reach the summit within 4 – 5 hours. The descent takes another 2 – 3 hours. Afterwards, we will drive you back to your original destination.
