Description

This 2-day rock climbing trip to Mirador del Morado is an intense adventure rewarded by a fantastic view of the Central Andes Range.

The Mirador del Morado (3900 m) is a viewpoint located in the Cajón del Maipo region, near Baños Morales town. It is pretty close to Chile's capital city, Santiago de Chile.

The beauty of this places lies on the amazing views of the magnificent south face of the Cerro El Morado and all its surrounding glaciers. It is truly an extraordinary landscape.

And to get up there we'll take a demanding route. First, we'll hike for around six hours to the base camp, where we'll spend the night. Then, the next day, we'll start the rock climbing activities with a 300 meters crevice climb. And after that we'll go through a pass to another ridge where we'll climb a 300 meters wall, category 4+.

After all this effort we'll descend walking through the normal route and back to the base camp.

So request to book this trip, tell me about your objectives and join me on this 2-day rock climbing trip to Mirador del Morado. We’ll put together a program to fulfill your goals and expectations!

Mountain Guide

UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain Guide from Chile

Mountain guide and instructor from the Chilean Andinism Federation (FEACH) and certified Wilderness First Responder.

I’ve opened several climbing routes in Chile, and was one of the first and very few Chileans to summit Cerro Torre, Fitz Roy, Paine Grande and Torres del Paine.

I climbed almost all the technical mountain in Cajón del Maipo, in Central Chile, and did some of the most important routes in Yosemite, Indian Creek and Patagonia.

And regarding ski mountaineering, I skied down Mount Illimani and Huayna Potosí in Bolivia, and Cerro Castillo, Morado Norte and Sur in Chile.

My trip with Nicolas was perfect. He catered to my climbing preference and the hot springs at the end of day was exactly what we needed. I would definitely do it again! Thanks Nico for my first experience in climbing in Chile!

The guide did not know the route. We spent a lot of time trying to find the route. The climbing itself was good.
