Description

On this trip we will experience the essence of the high mountains in this gorgeous setting created by thousands of years of geological processes and glacial movements. Together we will explore on snowshoes the beauty of this Park, with its more than 200 lakes and countless rivers and waterfalls, all frozen and in their place, as well as dense fir forests covering more than 750 hectares in surface. All around us we’ll have immense snow-covered mountains, some above 3000m in height, and the occasional wildlife flying high above our trail.

The Park is located at the northernmost region of Catalunya, just 3,5 hours by car from Barcelona, and it is covers several old comarques such as Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà and Pallars Jussà which together form a continuous beautiful alpine landscape of mountains, valleys, lakes, forests and meadows.

Itinerary

Day 1: First day

We will meet at 10 Am in the village of Espot

The first day we will be covering 10,5 Kms (+3,2 Kms if the 4-wheel-drive transfers are not in service)

+650m of vertical gain

We will spend the night at Refugi del Gerdar lodge (Half-Board): €37 pp

Day 2: Second day

6 Kms

+300m of vertical gain

4×4 transfer back to the starting point: €5,25 pp

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
