Description

I will guide you on this amazing, fun and brilliant 4-day hut-to-hut mountain biking tour in the Norwegian mountains, as we cross over and wind our way around the idyllic, tranquil and stunning scenery of Rondane National Park, with its dry conditions, steep summits above and below the tree line and wide open spaces proving ideal mountain biking conditions.

Rondane National Park is located in the middle of Norway, and is the oldest national park in the country. It is home to several peaks over 2000m, and there is a diverse range of flora and fauna, with animals such as wild reindeer, elk, wolverines and lynxes roaming the area.

We meet on the first morning in Folldal, and from there we then head to our accommodation for the first night, a lovely farm hotel near the mountain biking area.

The following day is an action-packed day of biking, as we head to the top of an old cableway previously used by the mines of the region, before a magnificent descent down to the valley below.

Once in the valley we begin another ascent in earnest, this time heading up high in to the mountains, where sweeping panoramic views over the park take the breath away, as we then undertake a fun descent back to a new farm hotel.

The entirety of day 3 is spent exploring the trails up in the mountains, with the unique and marvelous mountain farms providing tranquil backdrops to proceedings, and after crossing 2 large valleys we finish the day by riding down a singletrack to the hotel.

The final day is spent biking through 2 marvelous and scenic routes, before we finish the trip in the afternoon, having experienced some of the best natural scenery that Norway has to offer in an interesting and unique way.

Discovering the raw natural beauty of Norway on mountain bike is a pure thrill – book now to experience!

Itinerary

Day 1: Meet

Arrival at our first lodging, the beautiful and historic Kvebergsøya farm hotel. After a delicious 3-course meal from local produce we will go through the plans for the days ahead.

Day 2: Bike

The day starts with a refreshingly fun descent. We will be shuttled to the top of an old cableway used by the old mines in the area, from where we will descend on a beautiful trail back down to the valley. Once we get to the valley floor we begin our ascent by singletrack to the mountains with spectacular views of Rondane National Park. We finish the tour with a superquick and fun descent to our lodging at Romsdalssetra mountain farm, idyllically located by the river Einunna. We will be served traditional Norwegian mountain food, made from produce at the mountain farm.

Day 3: Bike

We have a full day in the mountains ahead with biking from mountain farm to mountain farm in the mellow and magnificent mountain landscape in the area. During the tour we will be crossing two valleys and finish the day with a beautiful singletrack following a mountain ridge to the valley floor. Arriving at our destination you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the spa pool, and in the evening, we will be served a delicious dinner made from local produce.

Day 4: Bike and Finish

For the last day we will enjoy two very scenic traverses, finishing every traverse with a thrillingly fun descent. At the end of our tour we will be picked up and transported back to Kvebergsøya, our first lodging.

We recommend full suspension bikes on all of our tours. We also provide rental bikes, specially tailored for our tours. We will issue a recommended packing list for every tour. Please note that the packing list is issued as a reference, and Urørt ski og sykkeleventyr AS is not responsible for failing to include any particular item or misspellings on this list.

Even though most of our tours are hosted in some of the driest areas of Norway, we will still be in the mountains and above the tree line for a longer period of time on most of our tours. We encourage all our guests to be prepared for all kinds of weather, and all seasons, even during mid-summer. At all times follow the instructions of your guide, and use the issued packing lists as reference to get the most out of your tour!
