  • Experience a wide range of fun and interesting trails and routes

  • Witness spectacular panoramic views of the mountains and valleys

I will guide you on this 5-day trip of a lifetime along the “scenic route” in the Rondane National Park, as we explore and discover the epic scenery that makes up this part of Norway, with tranquil and beautiful mountain farms stretching out in to vast valleys, mesmerizing and peaceful lakes, and majestic mountains looming above, the dry conditions making this region tailor-made for mountain biking.

Rondane National Park is located in the middle of Norway, and is the oldest national park in the country. It is home to several peaks over 2000m, and there is a diverse range of flora and fauna, with animals such as wild reindeer, elk, wolverines and lynxes roaming the area.

We begin on the first morning in the village of Ringebu, from where we then head to the traditional mountain farm of Gjermundshaugvangen.

We begin our mountain biking on day 2, as we wind our way around the trails and paths around the old mines of the area, the final descent of the day going from the old cableway down to our hotel.

Day 3 is spent following a singletrack from our hotel all the way up in to the mountains that litter the landscape of the national park, exposing us to some truly breathtaking and jaw-dropping views out over the magnificent and idyllic scenery.

The penultimate day entails biking around the area of Venabygdsfjellet, where the singletracks both above and below the treeline provide a thrilling and unique experience whilst riding on them, ending with an awesome descent down to Ringebu.

The final day is spent traipsing and travailing on some of the lovely trails in the Western part of Ringebu, before we finish the trip in the afternoon, weary and content at the sights we have seen the quality of the mountain biking we have experienced.

This 5-day mountain biking journey will provide you with memories to last a lifetime – book now so you don’t miss out!

Itinerary

  • Day 1Meet

For those who travel by train we will pick you up at the train station and transport you to your lodging at the mountain farm of Gjermundshaugvangen. If you travel by car we will pick you up in Ringebu where our tour ends. Gjermundshaugvangen is a traditional mountain farm in one of the most active agricultural regions in Norway. For supper you will be served traditional mountain food, made from produce at the farm.

  • Day 2Bike

After a solid breakfast we will embark on the planned route of the day. We will follow the old trails from the historic mines in the area, and specifically the trail of the cableway connecting the mines with the railway in Alvdal. We finish our tour with a refreshingly fun descent from the top of the old cableway and down to our lodging at Kvebergsøya farm hotel. After a delicious 3-course meal from local produce we get a good night sleep and get ready for the next day.

  • Day 3Bike

Our singletrack of the day literally starts at our doorstep. We will follow the singletrack in the direction of Rondane National Park, and during our tour we will enjoy two beautiful descents surrounded by the scenic mountains of Rondane. At the end of our last descent we will be picked up and transported along the National Scenic Route Rondane to our lodging at Spidsbergseter Resort Rondane. Upon arrival you can enjoy a relaxing swim at Karlsvogna wellness area before we get a delicious dinner made from local produce.

  • Day 4Bike

After some well earned rest and restitution at Spidsbergseter Resort Rondane we get back on our bikes to explore Venabygdsfjellet together with our partners at Værfast AS. Venabygdsfjellet is a unique area for mountain biking, praticularly because of the combination of singletracks above and below the treeline. At the end of the day we finish with a spectacular trail down to the center of Ringebu. Our lodging will be at a summer farm at the other side of the valley, where we will charge our batteries with a proper farewell-dinner in great company.

  • Day 5Bike and finish

After a solid and traditional mountain breakfast it is time to explore the beautiful trails surrounding us in the western part of Ringebu. These mountain areas offer miles and miles of singletrack, and we will explore some of the best trails which will eventually take us down to Ringebu at the end of the day, and the end of our journey.

More info

We recommend full suspension bikes on all of our tours. We also provide rental bikes, specially tailored for our tours. We will issue a recommended packing list for every tour. Please note that the packing list is issued as a reference, and Urørt ski og sykkeleventyr AS is not responsible for failing to include any particular item or misspellings on this list.

Even though most of our tours are hosted in some of the driest areas of Norway, we will still be in the mountains and above the tree line for a longer period of time on most of our tours. We encourage all our guests to be prepared for all kinds of weather, and all seasons, even during mid-summer. At all times follow the instructions of your guide, and use the issued packing lists as reference to get the most out of your tour!
