Description

For 10 exciting days, I would like to guide you to the summits of no less than 4 incredible volcanoes in Chile. Those volcanoes include San Francisco (6,020m), Vicunas (6,060m), Ermitano (6,060m) and Penas Blancas (6,056m).

Located in northern Chile, all four of these volcanoes are absolutely stunning and offer unique climbs. And, because all four of the volcanoes exceed 6,000 meters, you can be sure the views you will get to enjoy from their respective summits will take your breath away.

Our base camp throughout the trip will be Laguna Verde (4,300m). This beautiful area makes for a great trip on its own, as there are several soothing hot springs to enjoy and some great food as well, but on this trip, it will be but a part of the adventure. From Laguna Verde, you will positioned close to each and every volcano. As a result, every ascent can be done in a single day. Furthermore, the time spent in Laguna Verde, which includes a full rest day, will give you the opportunity to get properly acclimatized. We will also be visiting the lovely Laguna Santa Rose for a day, and hiking to the top of the Mulas Muertas as well. Thus adding even more to this wonderful adventure.

Each volcano ascent will take between 4 to 7 hours. We will scale approximately 1000 meters of elevation for each climb as well. As a result, participants on this trip should be in good physical condition.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival from Santiago – Copiapó. Pick-up at the airport, drop-off at hotel

Day 2: Drive to Laguna Santa Rosa, (3,750 m – 12,303 ft). Double shared tents.

Day 3: Climb of 7 Hermanos Mountain (4,850 m – 15,912 ft), acclimatization trek. Return to camp.

Day 4: Drive towards the Laguna Verde, base camp. Double shared tents.

Day 5: Climb of the Volcano San Francisco (6,018 m – 17,744 ft), L. Verde.

Day 6: Climb of the Volcano Tres Cruces Norte (6,030 m – 19,783 ft), L. Verde.

Day 7: Rest day in base camp and hot springs.

Day 8: Climb of the Volcano Peñas Blancas (6,030 m – 19,083 ft), L. Verde.

Day 9: Return to Copiapó – Hotel.

Day 10: Return to Santiago. Drive to Copiapó airport. End of the services of AndesContact.

I live in Santiago de Chile, the Chilean capital, where there are many options for high altitude ascents, even over 6,000 meters, in close proximity to the city. I also regularly organize trips to the Chilean Altiplano, where there are many mountains over 6000 meters. However, the main attraction of these trips is to witness the intensity and loneliness of the Atacama Desert.
