Description

Climb to the top of the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains on an incredible five-day journey! Trek through captivating villages on an unforgettable adventure through Morocco!

The North African country of Morocco is a fascinating location. With unique terrain and ancient geoformations, it is quickly becoming a top spot for trekking and climbing. The vast interior is an adventurer´s dream, with plenty to discover and explore.

The Atlas Mountains are a perfect centerpiece for this landscape. With Mount Toubkal (4,167m) as the highest point in the range, the villages leading up to this majestic summit are steeped in small, regional culture. The village of Imlil, while heavily influenced by the burgeoning hiking and climbing industry, is still locally known for its native walnuts and fruit production.

Our program is designed to place you into the middle of this enriching country. Over the course of five days, you will have a chance to experience the small-town atmosphere of Morocco. The wilderness that springs up as you travel into the Atlas Mountains is one-of-a-kind, as is the program that takes you there.

From Marrakesh, we will hike our way to the foothills and their surrounding communities. You will visit Tizi Oussem and Sidi Chamharouch, along with its shrine. We will eat local food, enhancing our trip through the regional cuisine and the overall experience that is uniquely Moroccan.

Our ultimate goal will be to reach the peak of Toubkal, the highest summit in North Africa. It is an ultra prominent peak and a exciting mountain to conquer.

Our days will each consist of roughly 12 to 15 kilometers of trekking, which translates to about 1,000m to 1,500m in elevation change. Our plan is to wake up around 7:00am to eat and be prepared to begin our hikes by 8:00am.

This is a sustained mountaineering trip with elevation gains and extended periods of hiking. You should be in good shape to enjoy this trip, and any previous trekking experience is valuable.

Book this five-day mountaineering program now, and visit the fascinating Moroccan region nestled in the Atlas Mountains!

We can also take another five-day mountaineering program in the High Atlas Mountains! Or we could enjoy a trail running program in Agafay Desert!

Mountain Leader

I am a certified International Mountain Leader and a Summer Mountain Leader (UK). In addition, I hold a Diploma in Conservation and Wildlife Management.
Originally from Great Britain, I am now based near Marrakech, in Morocco. Actually, in a Berber town at the foot of the Berber Mountains.
The love for travel runs in my veins. In the Sahara I lived with nomads. In Siberia I met reindeer herders. In Mongolia I traveled with yurt-dwellers.
The stunning landscapes and nice people of Morocco have enchanted me, which is why I now live here. My goal is sharing with my clients the exotic beauty that I've discovered here.
The environment is of extreme importance to me. In particular, I'm interested in geology and birds of prey.
Besides speaking English and French, I can get by in Berber.
My work is not limited to this area: I also do the Tour du Mont Blanc trek in the Alps.

Amazing three days spent running in the Atlas Mountains with Marc, a highly professional and super friendly guide. We passed through Berber villages where we stopped off for tea and took in 35-30kms most days in amazing conditions. Can't wait for my next trip!
