Description

When planning a ski trip, a place that always comes to one’s mind is Canada. This beautiful country has some of the most impressive mountains, valleys, forests, rivers, lakes and lagoons. And it is during winter, that its vast territory becomes a paradise for skiing and other winter sports. So join me on this ski expedition to the summit of Mount Columbia, in the province of Alberta, Canada.

Alberta is home of the Columbia Icefields, a territory that covers over 225 square kilometers or glacier ice. Also, it’s here, where we can find 11 of the highest mountains in the Rockies. Thus making this area one of the best locations for skiing.

Moreover, the peak we will ascend, Mount Columbia, is the highest one in Alberta. Hence, the perfect goal for our expedition. From the summit, we will get incomparable views of the Rockies, Selkirk and Purcell. And we will explore stunning places such as the Athabasca or Saskatchewan glaciers.

What’s more, this trip is designed beyond a regular expedition. During our journey we will be covering some lessons on ski touring and winter expeditions. Therefore, participants need some previous glacier travel on skis and camping during winter experience as well as a good fitness level.

We’ll cover contents like:

  • Preparation and organization of multi-day ski expeditions

  • Food preparation

  • Gear preparation

  • How to read the mountain weather

  • Planning a route and navigation skills

  • Hazard awareness and emergency procedures

  • Glacier travel

  • Track setting

If you’re looking for a skiing adventure in a winter paradise, while improving your skills, don’t hesitate and send us a message. One of our certified guides will have the pleasure to guide you across the Columbia Icefields in Alberta, and to the summit of Mount Columbia.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

Nate was very knowledgeable and got me to the top of mountain. He’s not as engaging as most of the guides I’ve had over the years. I’ve learned a lot about most of my climbs as guides talk about the mountain and the area maybe even plant and animals and I enjoy getting to know them better. We did talk a bit more on the way out of the trailhead. All in all a good experience. But not sure your company told him I had a knee replacement and would be slow.
