Description

This 7-day Dolomites guided hike (Alta Via 1 trek) will take your through an extremely panoramic trail full of breathtaking views!

The Dolomites are a mountain range that runs through the northeast of Italy. They are part of the bigger Southern Limestone Alps and run from the Puster Valley to the Sugana Valley. They are a mecca for rock climbing and one of the most traditional mountaineering spots in Europe.

This program will start in Cortina d’Ampezzo. On the first day we’ll go for a warm up circuit to Tre Cime di Lavaredo peaks, the Dolomites symbol.

Then our real adventure will start the next day from Lake Braies. The Alta Via n. 1 trek will take us across the Dolomites high plateau. We’ll go across their characteristic craggy peaks, pinnacles and pristine lakes. Every day we’ll walk to different spot where we’ll appreciate the its dramatic mountain scenery! 

Also, we’ll stay in a different mountain hut every night, for you to experience the ancient Italian mountaineering atmosphere and its traditional cuisine.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival to Cortina d’Ampezzo, overnight in Hotel Ancora, 4-star hotel, 1 night B&B.

Day 2: Tre Cime di Lavaredo Circuit

Today we’ll go for a hike around the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo with panoramic views all along the way.

Day 3: Lake Braies - Rifugio Fodara

Today we’ll start climbing from Lake Braies to Rifugio Biella, walking along the foothills of the Croda del Becco Massif and continuing with gentle ups and downs across the Sennes plateau to Rifugio Fodara.

Day 4: Rifugio Fodara - Rifugio Scotoni

Today we’ll hike across the scenic Sennes and Fanes high mountain plateau, past mountain streams and high mountain pastures, to the Rifugio Scotoni.

Day 5: Rifugio Scotoni - Rifugio Scoiattoli

We’ll go to the famous Lagazuoi and Cinque Torri area, reaching one of the most spectacular and scenic panoramic points in the Dolomites, the Lagazuoi summit. Then we’ll head to the Rifugio Scoiattoli.

Day 6: Rifugio Scoiattoli - Cortina d’Ampezzo

On this las hiking day we’ll hike to Passo Giau with panoramic ups and downs over a couple of mountain passes, along the Mondeval plateau before descending to Lake Federa and then on through forest down to Cortina d’Ampezzo through hamlets and back to the hotel.

Day 7: Departure

Departure from Cortina d’Ampezzo.
