Description

Join us for a 3‑day technical mountaineering program based at Rifugio Torino!

You’ll progress logically from accessible ridges to some of the Mont Blanc massif’s great classics, moving through glacier, mixed, and airy terrain in a truly unique high‑mountain setting.

The journey begins with an active acclimatisation day that’s also packed with real technical content. The Aiguilles Marbrées offer a fun, accessible ridge where you can practice roped travel, transitions between snow and rock, and terrain reading – all in a distinctly alpine environment.

From there, you’ll take a real step up. The full traverse of the Aiguille d'Entrèves focuses on continuity, exposure, and moving fluidly along an exposed ridge. It’s a key moment to build confidence and get ready for the final objective.

The grand finale is reserved for a major climb. The Dent du Géant is an iconic summit, combining mixed ground and equipped rock climbing – a complete, highly recognisable ascent. It’s an ideal choice if you’re after a classic alpine experience. Alternatively, the Rochefort ridge offers a finer, more technically demanding line. Less vertical but more exposed and sustained, it’s one of the most elegant routes in the massif. This option requires solid technique and suitable conditions.

The program follows a clear logic: adaptation, consolidation, and then the main objective – all set in one of the most prestigious playgrounds in European mountaineering.

    Itinerary

    Day 1: Aiguilles Marbrées

Meet in Courmayeur, then take the Skyway Monte Bianco up to Punta Helbronner. From Rifugio Torino, a short glacier approach leads to the Aiguilles Marbrées. The day is spent on a snow-and-rock ridge, perfect for practicing roped travel, crampon technique, and reading high-altitude terrain. It’s both technical and instructional, allowing you to adjust your level before tackling bigger objectives.

Return to the refuge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Full Traverse of Aiguille d’Entrèves

Leave the refuge and cross the Glacier du Géant toward Col d’Entrèves. The full west-to-east ridge traverse combines glacier, mixed terrain, and rock.

This is a more sustained, alpine day with continuous exposed ridge progression, climbing moves, and rope work. Emphasis is on rhythm, fluidity, and managing exposure. Return to Rifugio Torino for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Dent du Géant / Rochefort Ridge

    OPTION A

Approach via the Glacier du Géant to the base of the Dent du Géant, passing by Gengiva up to the Salle à Manger. The normal route goes up mixed ground and equipped rock sections with fixed ropes – expect slabs, exposed traverses, and the final ridge to the summit. Descend the same way using downclimbs and rappels. A great alpine day on one of the range’s most iconic peaks.

    OPTION B

A more alpine alternative. Approach to the base of the Dent du Géant, then access the Rochefort ridge. You’ll follow a narrow, very aesthetic ridge dominated by snow and mixed terrain. The day is continuously engaging, requiring solid crampon technique, balance, and exposure management. Demanding and elegant, this option depends on mountain conditions.

    More info

Previous classic mountaineering experience, including crampon progression and rope handling. You must move confidently on mixed terrain and exposed ridges, with good physical condition for 6–8 hour days at altitude.

This is a highly aesthetic ridge that is more alpine than it appears from below. It generally involves no extreme moves but demands continuity, balance, attention, and ease while moving roped on an exposed ridge with rock, snow, and short downclimbs.

Prior glacier travel experience with crampons and ice axe, plus basic knowledge of rope techniques and mountain safety.
