Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, you will receive a warm welcome from our office representative. Once airport formalities are completed, you will be escorted to your hotel. After checking in and enjoying some refreshments, our senior guide will meet with you to give a brief introduction to the Langtang Valley Trek.

Then, you will have the opportunity to have dinner, explore the surrounding areas, and then retire for the night.

Day 2: Drive to Syabrubesi

After an early breakfast, we embark on a local jeep drive from Kathmandu, starting the seven to eight-hour journey to Syabru Besi. The trip itself offers numerous picturesque sights. Syabru Besi holds significant importance as a village town and serves as a bustling trading post for the local residents. People from the entire Langtang area visit this marketplace to procure essential goods, making it a central business hub connected to the capital, Kathmandu.

Throughout the drive, we will be treated to stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas, including the Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal ranges, along with the renowned peaks of the Langtang region.

Our overnight stay will be at a lodge in Syabru Besi.

Day 3: Trek through Langtang river

After waking up in Syabrubesi, we'll enjoy a satisfying breakfast before embarking on our journey. We'll descend steeply alongside a small stream, which we cross using a suspension bridge. A significant part of today's trek will be spent following the pristine Langtang river.

Our path through oak, rhododendron, and bamboo forests promises to be enchanting, as these lush environments are teeming with wildlife, including red pandas, yellow-throated martens, wild boars, and a multitude of langur monkeys. The forests also provide habitat for Himalayan black bears, although encountering a red panda would be an exceptionally rare stroke of luck.

As evening falls, we arrive at Lama hotel, where we will spend the night.

Day 4: Langtang village trek

After having breakfast at Lama Hotel, we will depart early in the morning to continue our ascent above the Langtang Khola. The trail will become increasingly steep as we progress. It will lead to a log bridge, and further upward climbing will bring us to the lush meadows of Ghora Tabela, situated at an altitude of 3000 meters, where we will stop for lunch.

Along the way, we will pass several lodges and a police checkpoint. Continuing on, the trail will open up into a broad valley featuring yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages with water-driven mills and prayer wheels.

Upon reaching an altitude of 3500 meters and crossing a stream, we will finally arrive at the Langtang valley, which serves as the administrative center for Langtang National Park. This area will be characterized by Tibetan-style homes with flat roofs, hotels, and agricultural lands. Numerous memorials honoring those who lost their lives in the avalanche caused by the 2015 Nepal Earthquake will be found

Day 5: Explore Kyanjin Gumba

Today, upon waking up, we will journey along a gentle path on the side of a hill, passing a large mani on our way to a well-known Chorten and then through a small village with stone-built homes. As we descend into a lower level of the riverbed, the valley will change its shape to become U-shaped.

The distance we cover on foot today will be relatively low, allowing us more time to acclimate to the altitude and explore our surroundings. This region is renowned for its cheese and curd, and a cheese factory can be found right in the midst of it all.

Immediately after crossing the suspension bridge, the trail will treat you to a breathtaking view of the glacier known as Langtang Lirung. Many novice mountaineers use this glacier as a training ground before attempting more challenging peaks. Upon reaching Kyanjin Gompa, we will have lunch, visit a local bakery, and then explore a factory where fresh Yak Cheese is being made. There is palpable evidence of Tibetan culture and heritage in this part of the world. We will choose to spend the night at Kyanjin Gumba.

Day 6: Acclimatization in Kyanjin Gumba

Today will be a day of rest and acclimatization to the new environment. We will have the chance to explore various captivating locations, including a cheese factory and a nearby monastery. Additionally, we will have the option to ascend Tserko Ri, positioned at an altitude of 5,000 meters, providing breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains that are beautifully spread out nearby.

As we journey towards Tserko Ri, we will pause to enjoy a packed lunch and visit the spot where Guru Rinpoche left his footprint.

Following the river crossing, we will continue our ascent along a steep trail, marveling at the stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Langtang Peak, Ganjala Peak, Ganchenpo Peak, Nayakhang Peak, and Langtang Valley. Upon reaching the peak, we will be rewarded with the most spectacular views in all directions of the Himalayas, including Sisapangba in Tibet, as well as Langsisa and Dorje Lakpa in Nepal.

Day 7: Return to Lama Hotel

After enjoying a well-deserved rest and a satisfying breakfast, we commence our return journey to the Lama Hotel. The descent retraces the same path as our ascent. The occasional sight of Yaks butting heads along the route adds an exciting and memorable element to the experience. As we near the valleys, the trail becomes noticeably less challenging. Upon reaching the Lama Hotel, we opt to spend the night there and explore the surrounding areas.

Day 8: Trek to Syabrubesi

Following a delicious hot breakfast, we bid farewell to the mountains and cstart our descent back to Syabru Bensi, the starting point of our journey a week ago. We will spend the night at our guesthouse there.

Day 9: Drive to Kathmandu

After savoring a satisfying breakfast at our own relaxed pace, we dismantle our camp and get ready to travel to Kathmandu, where the comforts of our hotel, including a luxurious and comfortable bed, await us.

We enjoy a peaceful night at our hotel in a comfortable bed.

Day 10: Departure day

After breakfast on our last day in Kathmandu, our vehicle and guides will be ready to take you to the international airport three hours prior to your scheduled departure. As we wish you a safe journey back home, we will fondly reminisce about the fantastic moments we've had together. Bon Voyage! We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome you back to Glorious Himalaya once again in the near future.

FAQs

How physically fit should I be for the Langtang Valley trek?

The Langtang Valley trek is categorized as moderate, reaching an altitude of 5000 meters at Tserko Ri, with overnight stays at 3800 meters. In comparison to other treks in Nepal, such as the Annapurna Base Camp and Everest Base Camp treks, it is relatively easier. Therefore, an extreme level of fitness is not necessary.

How can I prepare for this trekking trip in Langtang Valley?

Engaging in some preparatory training is highly beneficial for your overall enjoyment. It is recommended to start preparing at least 8 weeks prior to your trip, incorporating activities such as regular morning walks

Is trekking insurance necessary for the Langtang Valley trek?

While trekking to the Langtang Valley does not mandate an insurance policy, we highly recommend obtaining insurance for financial protection in the event of emergencies. As this is a moderate-level trek traversing remote mountainous terrain, rivers, and forests, access to transportation and hospitals may be limited. In the event of emergencies, such as the need for well-equipped medical facilities, helicopter evacuation may be the fastest option in this region. Given the potential risks of natural disasters or health issues in mountainous areas, having comprehensive insurance coverage ensures that expenses for medication and helicopter rescue are taken care of by your insurance provider.

How will meals be handled during the trip?

Throughout this trek, tea houses offer a menu of food items for visitors. If you opt for our full board service, you will receive three meals daily, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, accompanied by tea or coffee at breakfast. Along the trail, trekkers can enjoy a variety of dishes, including continental, Chinese, Indian, and Nepalese cuisines prepared at the tea houses.

For breakfast, options such as porridge, muesli, boiled or fried eggs, omelets, toast, pancakes, and soups are available, along with tea or coffee. During lunch and dinner, you can choose from a selection of dishes like pizza, fried rice, plain rice, fried potatoes, chowmein or spaghetti, pasta or macaroni, and momo. Alternatively, you can also opt for the local favorite, Daal Bhaat, which is a common meal for Nepalese lunch and dinner.

Where will we stay during our journey?

As for accommodations, twin-sharing arrangements in communal local lodges will be provided throughout the trek. In most places, shared toilet facilities are available for trekkers. Only in Syaburbesi, will you have access to accommodations with attached bathrooms featuring hot showers.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
