Discover Mangart via Two Stunning Routes: Via Italiana and Slovenska Pot
This unforgettable guided ascent takes you to the summit of Mangart (2678 m) via two different secured climbing routes, each offering a unique challenge and breathtaking alpine views.
Via Italiana – For the Experienced Adventurer
Via Italiana is the more demanding of the two, rated as a C-level via ferrata. The route stretches 550 meters in length and climbs 450 vertical meters. It requires good physical condition and previous climbing experience. The route is steep and exposed, but the quality of the rock and panoramic views make it an exhilarating experience.
Slovenska Pot – An Accessible Introduction to Ferratas
For those newer to the world of rock climbing, the Slovenska Pot (Slovenian Route) offers an easier but still impressive challenge. Rated at B difficulty, this 450-meter-long route gains 350 meters of elevation and is ideal for those still building their confidence on secured paths.
Tour Itinerary:
We begin the tour from below the Mangart saddle (2055 m), which is accessible by car. From there, we descend toward the Nogara bivouac (1800 m) to reach the starting point of the Via Italiana. With the aid of fixed cables and iron steps, we ascend the dramatic wall back to the saddle, enjoying spectacular views along the way.
After reaching the saddle again, we continue our climb toward the summit of Mangart via the Slovenska Pot, which follows a striking ravine all the way to the peak. Alternatively, climbers may opt to reach the summit using the easier upper section of the Via Italiana.

Mountain Guide
I am an IFMGA mountain guide born in 1980 in Mojstrana, a Slovenian village close to Mount Triglav, the highest mountain in the country at 2864 m.
From an early age, my parents took me to the mountains during summer and winter. At that time, my father was part of a mountain rescue team in my hometown and was also going on expeditions to the Himalaya and the Andes, so he became a big inspiration for me. We went climbing, hiking, sport climbing and ski touring together. His enthusiasm truly influenced me.
I went to Alpine school, then Mountain rescue team, I did the Alpinist exam and I became an Alpinist instructor. After that, I also studied to be a professor of Sport. Several years later, I decided to begin my mountain guide education and to become an IFMGA/UIAGM certified mountain guide.

Our guide Stres Blaz was fantastic. He was very knowledgable about the mountain and was a strong guide that meant we could keep a good pace even with congestion on the mountain. I also had a small injury and he was very quick to support. Thank you for everything!
