Highlights

This 10-day program will take us to some of the most famous and challenging peaks in the Volcanoes Avenue: Illiniza and Cotopaxi. We will be in the heart of the Ecuadorian Andes.

The trip starts in Quito. From there we will first ascend smaller peaks in order to have a good acclimatization for our ultimate objective: the mythical Cotopaxi volcano (5897 m).

Depending on your wishes and the time you have available, we can also customize or extend this program. For example, we can include other peaks such as Cayambe, Antisana and Chimborazo, the highest peak in Ecuador.

I propose the following itinerary for this trip.

    Day 1
    Arrival to Quito.

    Day 2
Visit Quito’s surroundings and start the acclimatization.

    Day 3
Hiking up to Pasochoa volcano (4200m).

    Day 4
Hiking up to Ruco Pichincha volcano (4680m). You can choose between hike or East Ridge route (easy).

    Day 5
Iliniza Hut hike (4700m). Depending how fit you are, this day you could also climb Iliniza Norte (5116m).

    Day 6
Iliniza Sur (5263m) climb: Mixed route (F to AD).

    Day 7
    Rest day.

    Day 8
    Cotopaxi Hut (4800m).

    Day 9
    Cotopaxi climb.

    Day 10
Spare day in case of bad weather.

Some options to extend the trip are:
    – Cayambe volcano: 2 days.
    – Antisana volcano: 2-3 days.
    – Chimborazo volcano: 2-3 days.
