High Tatras backcountry skiing avalanche course

It is an honor for me to invite you to this backcountry skiing avalanche course of three days in the Slovak High Tatras.

It will be an incredible weekend where you will learn all the secrets to live a safe experience while skiing in the Tatra mountains. We will meet on Friday afternoon to begin with an introductory talk on backcountry skiing and avalanche management. I’ll also give you some basic lessons about snow conditions, how to prevent accidents and some other theoretical concepts.

On Saturday morning we will put that knowledge into practice in real High Tatras terrain. For the afternoon, we will continue to learn everything related to snow stability tests and how to plan the routes taking into account the avalanche risks.

Finally, on Sunday we will go for some cross-country skiing tracks where you can practice and do an avalanche rescue drill. It’ll be very exciting!

In conclusion, during these 3 days of backcountry skiing avalanche course in the High Tatras you will learn how to:

• Effectively use the technical tools for avalanche search;

• Make and evaluate the snow stability profiles;

• Know what to do in case of an avalanche accident.
