Description

Located in southeast British Columbia, Canada in the East Kootenay region, Fernie is a fantastic area. Beautiful, with the Rocky Mountains looming above and beyond, the views will leave you in a state of awe. Furthermore, the natural landscape seems to go on forever, and is absolutely gorgeous.  And on this full day trip, you will get to delve deep into it.

Throughout the day, you will get to enjoy some of the best descents in the Fernie back country. And based on snow conditions, weather conditions and your personal preferences, we will take you to the best spots in the area. We will ensure that you have an experience that will be safe as well as fun, thrilling, as well as educational because we will offer tips and advice on your technique whenever possible. And when it comes to the views, no matter where we ski, from the Elk valley and Elk river to the Rockies, you will be amazed.

To participate on this trip, you should already have prior skiing experience. You should also be in good physical condition.

Participants should bring the following items with them: wool or synthetic socks, Base Layer Top, Base Layer Bottoms, Fleece or synthetic jacket, Light wind shell, weather layer top, weather layer pants, warm outer jacket, toque, brimmed cap, face warmer, light gloves, insulated gloves, gaiters, boots, poles, skins, shovel, probe, avalanche transceiver, 30-40 liter pack, sunglasses, goggles, sun and lip cream, head lamp, thermos, lunch, blister kit, pocket knife, camera and binoculars.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

Nate was very knowledgeable and got me to the top of mountain. He’s not as engaging as most of the guides I’ve had over the years. I’ve learned a lot about most of my climbs as guides talk about the mountain and the area maybe even plant and animals and I enjoy getting to know them better. We did talk a bit more on the way out of the trailhead. All in all a good experience. But not sure your company told him I had a knee replacement and would be slow.
