The Calbuco Volcano is located in the Los Lagos region, in the Llanquihue National Reserve.With an actual surface area of 83,946 acres, this Chilean protected area is home to pumas, wildcats, hawks and other spectacular and unique Patagonian species. During this 2-day expedition, I will guide and show you this stratovolcano located southeast of Llanquihue Lake and northwest of Chapo Lake.

Our expedition will start with a challenging 5 hour hike through an ancient Alerce forest to our remote and beautiful mountain hut. From there, we’ll continue ascending up volcanic rocks which will lead us all the way to the summit. Keep in mind that even though the climbing will not be very demanding technically speaking, the terrain will be.

I recommend this trip to advanced climbers only. Furthermore, it’s essential to be in good physical shape.
