Would you like to discover one of the best mountains in the Andes for mountaineering? Then join me on this 8-day Cerro Marmolejo ascent starting from Chile.
At 6,108 m (20,039 ft), Cerro Marmolejo is the southernmost six-thousander in the world. Located on the border of Argentina and Chile, in Cajón del Maipo, in the Central Andes, this breathtaking stratovolcano is popular among mountaineers. Not only is it beautiful, but it is also a great training ground for Aconcagua or Ojos del Salado ascents.
On this 8-day program, we will have the chance to climb Marmolejo slowly but surely to its stunning top. We will begin on a hill bridge and approach the Engorda Valley to enter the Marmolejo Valley, where we will set up base camp at 3300 meters and then two subsequent high camps before we reach the summit.
Please keep in mind that this is a challenging climb that requires some technical skills. In the first few days, we will walk an average of 5 to 6 hours, and then 12 hours on summit day. Furthermore, we will need to use crampons and ice-axes on some stretches. Additionally, we will encounter a variety of climatic conditions that we will also have to weather. Therefore, it is important that you are well-prepared physically and that you have prior mountaineering skills. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you every step of the way!
So, are you ready to climb one of the most stunning mountains in the Andes? Then book your place and join me on this 8-day program to the top of the breathtaking Marmolejo!
Or, if you prefer, I also offer a 4-day ascent to San Jose Volcano.
