If you are looking for a challenging adventure in the Julian Alps, this is the perfect traverse for you! We’ll climb Siroka Pec, following its breathtaking ridge to the Dovški Križ Mountain.

Inside Triglav National Park, Siroka Pec (2497 m) rises as the wildest peak of the Martuljek group.

It has a very exposed ridge, which consists on seven sharp rock towers, with the shape of a saw. Because of this, it’s one of the most beautiful but also hardest mountains to climb in the Julian Alps.

Our starting point for this traverse will be Gozd Martuljek Village. From there, we’ll hike to a hidden basin called the Amphitheater. Then, we’ll follow a route for 5 hours to ascend one of the rock towers.

We’ll traverse across the ridge, climbing all of the towers until we reach Dovski Kriz mountain. The descent from this peak to the Vrata Valley will take around 2 hours.

Please contact me if you want to be a part of this traverse in the Julian Alps. I can assure you it will be an inspiring climbing experience!

    About the Guide

I was born in Kranj, Slovenia. I am a biology teacher and I also have been a professional alpinist for more than 30 years. Until now, I’ve reached 4 eight-thousanders around the world: Broad Peak, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri and Mount Everest.

In fact, I am the first (and still only) Slovenian female reaching ‘the roof of the world’. Together with my husband Andrej, we entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the first married couple to stand on Mt Everest.

Beyond the Himalayas, I climbed in Alaska, South America and Japan, among other places.

Sport climbing as well as competition and rock climbing have a very important place in my life and have taken me to many incredible and challenging places around the world.
