Road in a private vehicle to the village of Pinaya (3880 m asl / 12 729 FT) located at the foot of Illimani massif. Climb to reach the base camp of Illimani named Pinaya.

Day 2: PUENTE ROTO – NIDO DEL CONDOR (5470 m a.s.l / 17 946 FT)

We start trekking to reach the high camp of Illimani. The last part is a little bit technical with a steep and rocky stretch.
Camp near the glacier.

Day 3: ASCENT OF ILLIMANI (6439 m a.s.l / 21 125 FT)

AD+/IV – We leave the camp at night. Gradual climb along the snow ridge on fairly steep slopes (45º / 50º). The climb does not present any technical difficulty but is very sustained. Around 6,300 meters above sea level, we arrive on a glacial plateau between the central peak and the southern peak. After a well-deserved break in the sun this time, we turn right to follow the summit ridge, south-east direction. The last climb is steep (55º) before reaching the summit. Return to base camp.

Day 4: PUENTE ROTO - PINAYA - LA PAZ (3600 m a.s.l / 11 800 FT)

Return to Pinaya´s village and road come back to La Paz.

Thaki Travel

Tour Operator

Thaki Travel was founded in La Paz, Bolivia in 2011 by Anne BIALEK and Jérôme BENASSI, two adventurous friends, passionate about Bolivia and who fell in love with the kindness of the Bolivians.

During your trip in Bolivia, we will be all the time with you, we personally know all our co-workers from the receptionist of a hotel to a mule-driver of the Cordillera Real.

We like to explore and innovate. Every year, we invest in field expeditions to open new routes and build new original itineraries for our clients. We focus on building strong friendships with local communities giving us privileged contacts and access to off the beaten tracks, like the north part of the Cordillera Real where almost no one else goes.

We are very sensitive to responsible tourism. We have carried out several social actions to improve the lives of local communities and we build all our itineraries in a sustainably-driven approach.
We are very serious about altitude.

All our programs are carefully planned to comply with the acclimatization process, we have trained all our guides to Altitude sickness and we have a partnership with a French Institute about training and research in mountain medicine (Ifremmont). We are the only local travel agency that offers to their clients access to a medical platform (any client having health problems related to altitude can contact a specialized doctor 24/7 through our satellite phones)

We use high quality equipment for our treks and mountain expeditions: North Face VE25 tent (for 2 customers), .., IFMGA mountain guide for 2 customers (English speaking), Oxygen, oximeter, hyperbaric box, satellite phone.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
