Description
In the northeastern part of Colombia, there are two enchanting towns: Barichara and Guane. These small and mesmerizing villages offer unrivalled scenic trekking paths, ideal for this day hike along the Camino Real.
Barichara and Guane from part of the Heritage Villages of Colombia. Thus, its cobbled streets, lovely houses and historical buildings are the best option for those seeking a trekking adventure. The Camino Real path connects both villages with a 9 kilometer pathway.
A section of this trail forms part of the ancient Camino de Herradura, which extended to Girón, close to Bucaramanga, and Barrancabermeja, along the Magdalena River. The Guane indigenous people built the trail, which the Spanish later used as well. And it was restored in 1864. So the hike across it will not only offer breathtaking sceneries, it will also teach us about its historical and cultural importance.
Then, each town has its own charm. Barichara, for instance is one of the best preserved colonial villages in the country. But Guane is equally dazzling, with beautiful streets that invite adventurers to discover.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge.
