Description

Welcome to the spectacular Los Nevados National Natural Park**, situated in the central cordillera of the** Colombian Andes**. This amazing mountain region will take your breath away with every step!**

Located about 30 km southeast of the city of Pereira, the park is dominated by the momunmental volcano Nevado del Ruiz at 5,300m. It also offers quite a remarkable range of diversity in its terrain, biology and views.

Deserts, forests, lakes, rivers, glaciers and more, adorn this majestic region. They all provide a marvellous location for trekking, sight-seeing and camping.

On the first day of our trip, we will meet in Salento. Thereupon we’ll explore this wonderful town along with its fascinating history and culture. Also, we can use the time to set all the final details for our journey.

After a good night sleep, we’ll depart at 06:30 the next day. Then we’ll head to the valley of Cócora, where we will meet the horses that will carry our bags. Finally, we’ll end our day hiking to our camp site at 3,600 m, on a route with stunning views over the forest.

On day three we will climb further until Cañon at 3,950 m. Here we can rest and enjoy the amazing thermals of the volcano.

And to end adventure, on our last day we’ll descend for about 8 hours. Upon completion, an exquisite final meal, in a special local restaurant, will be waiting for us.

We did the Nevado Santa Isabel trip in Los Nevados (not listed specifically on exploreshare, but we asked if we could do it). It was really spectacular and the service was great.
