Description

Head off on a hike to beautiful Garibaldi Lake, one of the great Vancouver hikes, with one of our experienced guides and enjoy the natural beauty the area holds.

Our start point for the trip will be the Rubble Creek parking lot, which is a short drive from Whistler. A well-maintained trail will take us through a beautiful forest. We’ll follow that trail for around 6km which will include one hour of uphill climbing.

Just past the fifth kilometre, we’ll come to The Barrier. This is a cliff wall that contains the lake and was formed during a landslide in 1885. It’s thought that if this cliff was to ever collapse, the impact could be devastating.

We’ll then reach a junction where we can rest before going on to take a right. The trail is fairly flat after that and we’ll follow it for another 3 km. We’ll pass Barrier Lake and Lesser Garibaldi Lake crossing creeks and a wooden bridge.

Then it’ll be time to descend to the lake. Soon it will appear before us and we’ll be able to appreciate its size and beauty. The Sphinx Glacier that looks over the lake is another awesome sight to behold. After some time relaxing at the lake, we’ll turn back the way we came.  If you’d like to extend your trip, you could choose the option of camping.

Will was great wise and fun to spend the day with.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!

Nate was very knowledgeable and got me to the top of mountain. He’s not as engaging as most of the guides I’ve had over the years. I’ve learned a lot about most of my climbs as guides talk about the mountain and the area maybe even plant and animals and I enjoy getting to know them better. We did talk a bit more on the way out of the trailhead. All in all a good experience. But not sure your company told him I had a knee replacement and would be slow.
