Located along Arizona’s Santa Rita Mountains, towering above the lower peaks, stands Mount Wrightson.
Soaring to 2,881 meters above sea level, Mount Wrightson is the highest peak in the range, as well as being the highest in the Tuscon region.
Although a high mountain, it is very accessible for hikers. The trail ascends gradually, snaking upwards towards the summit without any steep sections or compromising obstacles.
The pyramid-shaped peak is a dominant feature throughout much of the southeast of Arizona, offering a distinct shape among the wilderness.
Hiking the mountain involves ascending forested slopes packed full of ecological diversity. The range is home to Madera Canyon, which is one of the world’s best birdwatching area, as it is a well-known resting place for migrating birds.
Mount Wrightson provides sanctuary for ravens higher on the summit, the mountain lion, white-tailed deer and the black bear.
