Miroslav, an IFMGA mountain guide, takes you on a 1 or several-day freeriding ski trip in the highest peaks of the Low Tatras.

Description

Chopok and Deres are two of the highest peaks in the Low Tatras, a section of the Tatras mountain range. Still an under-the-radar ski destination, it’s the best place to venture for a freeride ski adventure!

On the north side of Chopok lies Jasna, the largest ski resort in Slovakia offering breathtaking views and exciting slopes for skiers of all levels.

However, we’ll be exploring a quieter and wilder section of these mountains. With an easy access, we’ll reach several great peaks for a freeride skiing adventure. This is an exciting opportunity to enjoy a true immersion in nature.

You can join me for a 1 or several-day ski trip. Each day, I’ll take you to the best spots depending on the snow conditions and your skill level.

Here are some of the best freeriding areas we can explore:

  • The central Dresden boiler

  • The West Dresden Boiler

  • Luke Valley

  • The main Dresden boiler

As regards snow conditions, the northern sides of Chopok and Deres receive less snow at the beginning of the winter season (December). Generally, the best conditions can be found from January to March.

Besides —while it’s not a very risky area— you’ll need to have an avalanche equipment.

Would you like to join me on this freeriding trip in the Low Tatras? Send a request so we can start planning this together!

In case you are looking for ski trips in other locations of the Slovakian mountains, check out these trips in Small Cold Valley and Mengusovska Dolina.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
