The Rocks of Grands Malades form a massif by the Meuse (Maas) river, between Namur and Beez, in Belgium. It was used to obtain blue rock (Namur rock) for a long time. Nowadays, the place has been restored as a green area, and it's popular for rock climbing.
Right outside Namur, the Grands Malades is an ideal destination for a rock climbing initiation trip. In fact, it's apt for families and children.
There are many options for great single-pitch rock climbing in the area. Therefore the trip can be from easy to sustained, depending on the level of the group. And it's even possible to combine rock climbing with some technical, aerial and varied via ferrata also in Grands Malades. There are some vertical sections and traverses, monkey bridges, zip lines, abseiling…
I greatly enjoy guiding my friends and clients there because:
-There are many routes, some perfect for initiation as well as kids/families
– The access is easy and there is parking
– It's possible to combine it with a very interesting, technical via ferrata.
If you are coming for several days, we can also combine it with rock climbing in Goyet.
Tempted to try rock climbing in the Grands Malades rocks? Then please send me a request and we will make plans right away! It will be my pleasure to guide you along these walls.
