Join me for a traditional rock climbing course in Wallonia, Belgium. We will be in the area of the beautiful Meuse valley, around Namur or Dinant. The exact location can be determined together. We can leave for 1 to 3 days, depending on your time available.
Climbing on adventure terrain, or traditional (trad) climbing, is a climbing style in which the climber must set his own protections to belay in the event of a fall. Unlike sports climbing, where the anchor points are installed permanently, trad climbing requires more commitment as well as the climber's ability to find a way to belay while climbing.
During this course you will learn how to correctly place your nuts and friends. You will also learn how to use the natural protections to complete the equipment of the "classic" or "mountain" routes. This will help you climb in autonomy on routes ill-equipped or not equipped.
The program includes:
– Choosing and organizing the equipment
– Estimating the reliability of the anchorages in place
– Using natural anchorages
– Placing nuts and friends
– Belaying on dubious anchorages
– Strategy and commitment.
The main reasons why I like to teach this course are:
– An essential training to learn good placement
– It's possible to do it in 1 day, but 2-3 days are ideal
– There are many possibilities on different rocks to vary the climbing style and level.
Want to join this traditional rock climbing course? Then don't hesitate to send me a request! It will be my pleasure to teach you the techniques of this great discipline. And maybe on the next trip we can go trad rock climbing in Pfalz area, in Germany!
- Guiding fee
The price indicated is for a day trip.
If you are not a member of an alpine club, you will have to pay the access to the rock (12€ for adults, 6€ under 18 years old).
Equipment rental is 5€ per person (harness, helmet, quickdraws, rope, belaying device) and 5€ per person for friends and nuts.
There are hotels, lodges and campings nearby.
